"Trump at Camp David: 'Everything I've done is 100 percent proper'
Source: Politico

By ANDREW RESTUCCIA 01/06/2018 12:35 PM EST

"President Donald Trump on Saturday again denied that his campaign colluded with Russia during the 2016 election and said he had not done anything improper amid allegations he tried to stop Attorney General Jeff Sessions from recusing himself from the ongoing special counsel investigation.

“Everything I’ve done is 100 percent proper,” Trump said during a press conference on the sidelines of a meeting with congressional leaders at Camp David. “That is what I do, is I do things proper." He added later, “Just so you understand, there’s been no collusion, there’s been no crime.”

The president also cast doubt on a New York Times report that said Trump asked the White House’s top lawyer to convince Sessions not to recuse himself from special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe.

He said the story is “off,” but did not explain why it is inaccurate.

"Trump: I’m not under investigation, but ‘maybe Hillary is"’

BY JULIA MANCHESTER - 01/06/18 12:52 PM EST

"President Trump said on Saturday he was not under investigation, but added that his former political opponent Hillary Clinton could be amid reports the FBI is probing the Clinton Foundation.

"Just so you understand, there's been no collusion. There's been no crime. And in theory, everybody tells me I'm not under investigation. Maybe Hillary is, I don't know, but I'm not," the president said addressing reporters at Camp David.

The president also claimed there was collusion between Clinton, the DNC, and the Russians.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller has continued to probe the president and those around him as apart of the federal investigation into alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russian election meddling.
Various Republicans and the president have called Mueller's probe politically motivated and a "witch hunt" and have called for an investigation into Clinton."

"Mitch McConnell, Marco Rubio, Scott Walker, Lindsey Graham, John Kasich & John McCain took Russian $$$"

"Party loyalty is often cited as the reason that GOP leaders have not been more outspoken in their criticism of President Donald Trump and his refusal to condemn Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election. Yet there may be another reason that top Republicans have not been more vocal in their condemnation. Perhaps it's because they have their own links to the Russian oligarchy that they would prefer go unnoticed.

Donald Trump and the political action committees for Mitch McConnell, Marco Rubio, Scott Walker, Lindsey Graham, John Kasich and John McCain accepted $7.35 million in contributions from a Ukrainian-born oligarch who is the business partner of two of Russian president Vladimir Putin's favorite oligarchs and a Russian government bank.

During the 2015-2016 election season, Ukrainian-born billionaire Leonard "Len" Blavatnik contributed $6.35 million to leading Republican candidates and incumbent senators. Mitch McConnell was the top recipient of Blavatnik's donations, collecting $2.5 million for his GOP Senate Leadership Fund under the names of two of Blavatnik's holding companies, Access Industries and AI Altep Holdings, according to Federal Election Commission documents and OpenSecrets.org.

Marco Rubio's Conservative Solutions PAC and his Florida First Project received $1.5 million through Blavatnik's two holding companies. Other high dollar recipients of funding from Blavatnik were PACS representing Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker at $1.1 million, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham at $800,000, Ohio Governor John Kasich at $250,000 and Arizona Senator John McCain at $200,000.

In January, Quartz reported that Blavatnik donated another $1 million to Trump's Inaugural Committee. Ironically, the shared address of Blavatnik's companies is directly across the street from Trump Tower on 5th Avenue in New York."

"Trump claims Mexico will pay for wall day after seeking $18bn from Congress"Rofl
Source: MSN/The Guardian

"Donald Trump insisted on Saturday that Mexico would pay for a wall along the southern US border, one day after his administration asked Congress for $18bn over the next decade to start construction on the barrier.

“I believe Mexico will pay for the wall,” Trump said during a brief news conference at Camp David, where he was meeting congressional Republican leaders to plan for 2018 midterms.

“I have a very good relationship with Mexico. But yes, in some form, Mexico will pay for the wall.”

Mexico has repeatedly stated that it will not pay to build the wall.

"White House Staff Could Be in Trouble if They Help Trump With Fake News Awards, Says Former WH Lawyer."

Source: Newsweek
By Graham Lanktree On 1/8/18 at 7:17 AM

"President Donald Trump said he still plans to go ahead with "fake news" awards he first suggested in November and promised on Twitter to hand out Monday. However, he tweeted late Sunday that he would push back the announcement of winners to January 17.

“WARNING to White House staff: the president may be exempt from the rules at 5 CFR § 2635.701 et seq. on misuse of position BUT YOU ARE NOT,” tweeted Norm Eisen, who served as White House Special Counsel for Ethics in the Obama administration.

Eisen is chair of the board of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a watchdog group that has attempted to bring a series of lawsuits against the Trump administration for ethics violations over the past year.

"If any [White House] staffers work on this or post it on the WH website, it will be a violation of the Standards of Conduct,” wrote Walter Shaub, the former director of the Office of Government Ethics, in a supporting tweet directed at the Trump administration’s press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Sunday."

More evidence of Trump running his presidency like a business opportunity for his family, his friends and most importantly, for himself. Scream1

Trump dodged a heap of taxes by giving Eric a sweet deal during the campaign — here’s how

"President Donald Trump’s son Eric is preparing to capitalize on a windfall he received from his father during the presidential campaign: He’s combining three luxury Manhattan high-rise apartments, one of which he purchased at a throwaway price from his father, into one potentially lucrative penthouse.

In the spring of 2016, Eric Trump got a great deal from his father. He bought two previously unsold condominium apartments at Trump Parc East for just $350,000 each, about half of the price they had recently been listed for.

Such bargain basement sales are usually treated as gifts by the IRS. But they might not have been taxed that way, tax experts said, because of advantages available only to real estate developers.

Last month, Eric transferred ownership of one of the condos — unit 14G — and two other adjacent apartments he owns into a new entity called 100 CPS Penthouse LLC.

He had already applied for permits to combine these three units into a 2,400-square-foot apartment on the top floor of a building that overlooks Manhattan’s Central Park. The estimated cost to combine the apartments: $410,000.

All told, Eric paid just under $3 million for the three apartments. With the estimated renovation costs included, he will have spent more than $3.3 million to create the penthouse.

How much Eric could get on the market if he sold such a large penthouse is not clear, but for comparison’s sake, an apartment of 1,700 square feet on a lower floor of the same building sold for $7.5 million in 2013. At that price per foot, the penthouse would sell for over $10 million. Higher floors tend to command steeper prices.

In 2008, a 4,400-square-foot unit in the building went on the market for $38 million but never sold.

Representatives for the Trump Organization did not respond to a request for comment."

"Mueller adds veteran cyber prosecutor to special-counsel team"
Source: The Washington Post

By Matt Zapotosky January 10 at 2:06 PM

"Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III has added a veteran cyber prosecutor to his team, filling what has long been a gap in expertise and potentially signaling a recent focus on computer crimes.

Ryan K. Dickey was assigned to Mueller’s team in early November from the Justice Department’s computer crime and intellectual-property section, said a spokesman for the special counsel’s office. He joined 16 other lawyers who are highly respected by their peers but who have come under fire from Republicans wary of some of their political contributions to Democrats.

Dickey’s addition is particularly notable because he is the first publicly known member of the team specializing solely in cyber issues. The others’ expertise is mainly in a variety of white-collar crimes, including fraud, money laundering and public corruption, though Mueller also has appellate specialists and one of the government’s foremost experts in criminal law.

Zainab Ahmad and Brandon Van Grack have handled some cybercrime issues in the past, though they are recognized more for their work on terrorism and national security.

This is why some Republicans are trying so hard to squash and change the focus of the investigation. It isn't all about their agenda.

Huh?
"President Trump held a joint press conference Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg Wednesday in the White House East Room, taking the opportunity to bash Democrats and undermine the legitimacy of the Russia investigation.

"There was absolutely no collusion. Everybody knows it," Mr. Trump said, claiming the real collusion was between Russia and Democrats.

"There is collusion, but it is really with the Democrats and the Russians far more than it is with the Republicans and Russians," he said. "So, the witch hunt continues."
