I accept your theory.
Now what?
What do we do with this information?

act accordingly chuckle

which is often easier said than done

IMHO
part of that means humanism per WWJD
and the other part is trying to understand/grok/become
Thou Art That

which means you meditate
upon the fact that we/you/me/all-of-it *are* The Totality

which lends a fair amount of "enlightenment"
by just groking it and meditating upon it

and then if one is lucky enough
it leads to total enlightenment

Follow the golden rule...meditate...

I can do all that with or without the Monism.
Ah well, it is a nice thought, but ultimately useless.

You know, that's one of the "nice" things about growing older
And losing your memory
Mainly from drugs and alcohol
OO-RAH

I know I've seen that clip before
I knew it when I started watching it

But I'd forgotten the punch line chuckle

So you get to get it all over again
That's the flip side of forgetting and remembering and forgetting

So if anybody reading this is worried about Alzheimer's, etc
Yeah, it sucks, but it's OK, and then it sucks, and then it's OK

Just do yourself a favor and check out before it gets really bad
Via the most efficacious method per Hunter S

So God needs to be hungry?
And horny?
And vindictive?
And petty?

Because lacking something would make them imperfect?

Seems having everything as a metric for perfect would make contradictory a necessary part of "perfect".

Perfect from what perspective? Your finite one, or an infinite one?

That is why the Toaists say that in the end nothing can be said of the Tao that is true. Because, any label you place on it, diminishes and limits it. Yes it would contain all those traits you listed, but it would also contain the opposite traits as well. In fact it is all things and possibilities and it's opposites and even simultaneously nothing. It exists outside of linear time and is eternal so it doesn't to play by the rules of finite beings and things.

People that like to believe in a all good God have a hard time thinking that God would also contain the dark forces and inclinations, but in the old traditions and even in the old testament it is pointed out many times, that everything that happens is the decree of God, both blessings and curses.

Not only the Toaist hold this position about the Godhead, so do the Hindu Brahman and the kabbalistical rabbi.

In the baghavad gita at one point Prince Arjuna laments that he must go out into battle and fight his cousins and uncles and said he could not, Krishna explains to him that if you have two men in the battlefield and one cuts the other down, do not lament, it is an illusion, because their are no men and no sword really, only Bramha.

The fact that the universal soul is the same one dwelling in all things, is the root of a great mystery about the true nature of karma and why Jesus told his disciples that what they did to the least of people, it is as if they did it to him. Because, in the end God is playing all the roles and what one finite manifestation does to another it does to own soul in another form and the very action committed is it's karmic punishment or reward at the highest spiritual level.

Very deep and informative, thank you

Yes, but do you understand what that implies?

Yes, nothing can be said of the Tao.
And if you rest within it there is no Up no Down no This no That
Because it is beyond all that

That is all well and good
But one must still dwell in the world

"My kingdom is not of this world."
Which is what that means.

If you learn to dwell in the Tao, where no issues exist
Then when you are confronted with issues

You react to them ... naturally ... Tao-istly ... with ... an innate humanistic nature that is ... most importantly ... without all the learned trappings of ... conditioning

Why useless?

It is not useful because it doesn't make any difference whether it is true or not.
I suppose some people will feel happier or less stressed believing this. That gives it some value, but I am not one of them, so the idea doesn't hold much value for me.

Thank you
I think that is a very profound thing you just said, and I am not joking

That a belief in Monism may render relief
Because it is much like Deism, right?

Which is why what you said strikes me as being profound
Because it cuts right to the chase of the both

Deism and Monism

[Monism] is not useful because it doesn't make any difference whether it is true or not.

Please forgive me for editing your reply but it helps to elucidate

Because I would like to propose the idea

-- That Monism *does* make a difference
-- If it is true
-- And it is realized

So I would suppose that the next step in any such discussion
For you or anyone else to consider would be ...

1. Is Monism true/factual/de facto ?

and then after that

2. If Monism is de facto, can it be realized ?

Anybody up for this?

I'm on a different time line, in Cyprus, so just saw your thread just now and have one thought that readily came to mind over your thread title:

Yah never felt lonely, but since He is a God of Love, He wanted to share with a people like Him to love.

If the man said come get some Monism on it, then do so. Above their crickets is the Monasticism.
