CAPRICORN Mystery, Ancient Sea-Goat/Unicorn Myths
Advertisement
Does anyone know the hidden ancient significance behind the Capricorn Sea-Goat sign and symbolism? It is said to be the most mysterious sign of all. I have read about it involving rebirth and of it being symbolic of the unicorn which represents the single horn (wisdom?) rising up as well as being the horn of plenty. Does anyone know more of the ancient origins and significance behind this sign?

Thanks!

https://astrochrysalis.com/astrology-vocation-html/

The sea goat, not the billy goat, is the true symbol of Capricorn, which rules the tenth house of astrology. This house is defined by the Midheaven, the highest point of the horoscope, representing the highest aspirations and therefore your vocation.

Not a marine mammal, the sea goat, better described as a goat fish, is a mythical creature with the head and upper body of a goat, and the lower body and tail of a fish.

The sea goat symbol goes back over 4000 years, when it represented the Sumerian primordial god of waters, Enki. According to legend (similar to the Garden of Eden story of the Bible) at one time “there was not fear, no terror”, and men lived in harmony. When mankind was thrust out of this paradise, at a time of crisis, Enki came out of the sea, and gave humanity the skills of civilization; teaching about cultivation, irrigation, (he was the god of sweet spring water as well.) granaries, and medicine. Never a trickster god, he represented balance and responsibility.

The fish part of this symbol represents passion, spirituality, intuition, connection with soul, – the deepest depths of our being. The goat symbol represents intelligence, curiosity, ambition, but also steadiness, and ability to thrive in inhospitable environments. The goat climbs the highest mountains carefully, step by step, ever seeking higher vistas.

This fused symbol of the fish and the goat, the sea goat, presents the dual nature of Capricorn, all humans, and also of vocation. We are spiritual beings having an earthly experience, and so the challenge of vocation is to integrate our deepest essence, which is our feeling soul, into the hard dry landscape of this earth – and thrive.

The sea goat symbol teaches us that we can only fulfill our highest aspirations by learning to express from the depths of our soul. The fused nature of this symbol tells us that this is possible. You can find a way to integrate your essence with the world as you “grow up”. You can find that which theologian Frederick Buerchner described as “the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.

Astrological tip: In any vocational horoscope analysis, pay attention, not only to the ruler of the 10th house, but the ruler of the 4th house, and Moon as well.

Enki, the primordial god, also is said to have interceded on behalf of mankind prior to the Great Flood, thereby saving humanity, again. (He believed that humanity had the ability to control population and behave responsibly to the rest of creation)

Capricorn is the Gate of the Gods where souls ascend after death. It’s an ancient sign with connections to the laws of time and the renewal of life at midwinter. This is the time of year when the sun is at its weakest in the northern hemisphere. At the winter solstice, the sun rises to its lowest point in the sky and stands still for three days (if you go far enough north, it disappears altogether) which symbolises death. Then after midwinter, the sun is reborn from the darkness, symbolising rebirth and the renewal of life.

THANK YOU SEASNAKE!!!!!!!!!! I have been searching this topic for weeks and never came across the site in your first link. Great stuff!

Your reply also helped me out with another important question which I had but forgotten to ask!! That being the possible true symbol of the Capricorn sign which I believe is shown in your first image!!! Supposedly the TRUE symbol of Capricorn is supposed to be a deep mystery and is never shown because it reveals something very powerful. So I am thinking your first image is the drawing of the concealed symbol of Capricorn!! That symbol sort of looks like a Star of David and I wonder how it applies to Capricorn!!

THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hugs Heartflowers

The Star of David
Book of Revelation’s New Jerusalem as a 3D Star of David

NEW JERUSALEM – A STAR TETRAHEDRON? In the Book of Revelation 21, the ‘City of God’, the New Jerusalem, the very Throne Room of the LORD literally will supertranspose itself onto the Earth. Based on the given measurements that are described in Ezekiel, many speculate that the New Jerusalem will be a ‘cube’ or a‘pyramid’ in shape. What if it is actually both one in the same. Basically it would be 2 intertwined 3-dimensional pyramids within a square. A Star Tetrahedron incorporates a ‘square within a square’ as well. This would allow for the very Holy of Holies which is a perfect square. The Throne Room of the LORD is always a perfect cube, as with the Tabernacle of Moses, the Temples & The New Jerusalem.

RE: CAPRICORN Mystery, Ancient Sea-Goat/Unicorn Myths
Capricorn always makes me think of the legend of the quinotaur.

Quote:The Quinotaur (Lat. Quinotaurus) is a mythical sea creature mentioned in the 7th century Frankish Chronicle of Fredegar. Referred to as "bestea Neptuni Quinotauri similis",[1] (the beast of Neptune which resembles a Quinotaur) it was held to have fathered Meroveus by attacking the wife of the Frankish king Chlodio and thus to have sired the line of Merovingian kings.

The name translates from Latin as "bull with five horns", whose attributes have commonly been interpreted as the incorporated symbols of the sea god Neptune with his trident, and the horns of a mythical bull or Minotaur. It is not known whether the legend merged both elements by itself or whether this merger should be attributed to the Christian author.[2] The clerical Latinity of the name does not indicate whether it is a translation of some genuine Frankish creature or a coining.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quinotaur

Quote:Now lets go back to the Quinotaur, which some have named as being synonymous with Poseidon, the Greek God of the sea and, according to Plato, one of the famous kings of Atlantis. Others have seen it as being emblematic of the fish symbol that Christ is associated with, thus indicating that he was in fact the origin of the bloodline. However, the roots of this Quinotaur myth are far more ancient. The word itself can be broken down etymologically to reveal its meaning. The last syllable, "Taur", means "Bull." The first syllable "Quin", or "Kin", comes from the same root as "King", as well as the Biblical name of Cain, whom many have named as the father of a particular branch of the Grail family. The Bull King who swims in the ocean is a recurring them in many ancient cultures, most notably, ancient Mesopotamia. In fact he comes from that dynasty of kings who reigned over the antediluvian world and who were all associated with the sea, as well as this divine animal imagery. These kings included Sargon, Menes, and Narmar. Their historical reality morphed into the legends we have in many cultures of gods said to have come out of the sea at various times and taught mankind the basic arts of civilization: agriculture, metallurgy, architecture, navigation, mathematics, medicine, etc. They were known by various names: Ea, Enki, Dagon, Oannes, or Marduk (Merodach). They depicted as half-man, half-fish, half-goat half-fish, or half-bull, half-fish, but as we have said, in many of these depictions it is clear that this affect was merely achieved by the wearing of costumes, and that these God-Kings were using this archetypal imagery to deify themselves in the minds of their subjects.

Thanks DSMith! I have come across info suggesting Capricorn to involve a great mountain for which the Sea-Goat climbs to the highest levels. I wonder if this somehow ties into the Biblical story of Moses on the mountain receiving the Ten Commandments. I think that the Biblical stories are very much associated to the Zodiac. Also the 12 disciples, 12 tribes of Israel etc being related to the 12 signs of the Zodiac. I have been trying to use the Zodiac signs/myths as a guide to decode the meanings in the book of Daniel and Revelation in the Bible. It is all very interesting!!! Thanks again!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theta_Capricorni
[Image: images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQqlANQlxl2-NwSRKhRxd9...p;usqp=CAU]
Theta Capricorni, Latinized from θ Capricorni, is a white-hued star in the southern constellation of Capricornus,] 0.58° south of the ecliptic. Sometimes, this star is called by the name Dorsum, meaning the back (of the goat) in Latin. It can be seen with the naked eye, having an apparent visual magnitude of +4.07. Based upon an annual parallax shift of 20.11 mas as seen from the Earth, the star is about 162 light years from the Sun.

This is an A-type main sequence star with a stellar classification of A1 V. Radial velocity variations indicate it may be a binary star system, but when the system was examined in the infrared, no companion was detected. Theta Capricorni has an estimated 2.24 times the mass of the Sun and around 2.7 times the Sun's radius. It is 152 million years old and is spinning fairly rapidly with a projected rotational velocity of 104 km/s. It is radiating 65 times the solar luminosity from its photosphere at an effective temperature of around 10,000 K.

Night viewing
The star or star system is almost eclipsed by the sun on about 3 February, when it will figure behind the sun's corona if there is a full solar eclipse. Thus the star can be viewed the whole night, crossing the sky, in early August (in the current epoch).

Chinese name
In Chinese, 十二國 (Shíer Guó), meaning Twelve States, refers to an asterism which represents twelve ancient states in the Spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, consisting of θ Capricorni, φ Capricorni, ι Capricorni, 38 Capricorni, 35 Capricorni, 36 Capricorni, χ Capricorni, 30 Capricorni, 33 Capricorni, ζ Capricorni, 19 Capricorni, 26 Capricorni, 27 Capricorni, 20 Capricorni, η Capricorni and 21 Capricorni. Consequently, the Chinese name for θ Capricorni itself is 秦一 (Qin yī, English: the First Star of Qin), meaning that this star (together with 30 Capricorni) and δ Serpentis in Right Wall of Heavenly Market Enclosure (asterism)[18]) represents the state Qin (秦) (or Tsin)

Speaking of the Star of David, I have heard that it was originally a star for Saturn. I have since forgotten the name given to this star, but I remember it started with an "R". Anyone ever hear of this? It was all very interesting.
