On some cars/trucks you have to do a lot more than open the hood and change the plugs ....on my truck you have to jack up the truck, remove the passenger front tire, pull of the fender well liner to get to two of the plugs on the passenger side of the engine ....

And don't get me started on water pump or timing chain/belt !!!

/\ /\ This.
Many V6 and V8 vehicles have several spark plugs located near the engine firewall, possibly requiring shifting or removing the transmission, engine mounts, exhaust, timing components, water pump, etc.

Mine were easy to get to, but it took me a long time to remove one of them.
Its running better now and not skippping and sputtering anymore.

It was a pain in the ass to get them off, they were in there tight! I had to spray some WD-40 and let it soak for a few min to loosen them up.

Its the first time they ever have been changed.

They were badly damaged and needed changing.

Cor Blimey!

Times like that! Calls for a Song like this..

Happy Motoring, cock a doodle doooo! Cheers

DIY shouldn't forget to add in the cost of a flex head ratchet and Proper plug socket .
Sometimes an assortment of extensions ,and if those plugs have never been out b/f
all your tools have to be better quality, not necessarily Snap-on , but that's what the "pros" buy.

Well, I saved 200.00 doing it myself, so I am not complaining.

It runs much better now.

I would have paid 50.00 labor to have them changed, but NOT $200.00!!!

It is a Mustang V6 3.7L engine. A "Mini" hot rod car.

It goes REAL FAST if I want it to.

Cost me 10K!

Labor costs at those places are crazy, they shouldn't charge over 200.00 just to change some damn spark plugs in a car!

Cost shouldn't be over 75.00 max for labor!

Run a small pitcher of water over the SP wires at night ,
just to check for sp leaking ,( It becomes more prevalent an acceleration.)
And check for their nemesis the leaky fuel injector seal ( during the daylight.)

Definitely a rip off then. Easy plug change on that vehicle. The transversely mounted v6's on many minivans and sedans can be difficult to change the rear bank. Often involving removal of chassis braces and intake manifolds and often the battery and it's mounting tray as well as any braces for that hardware.

Yes, plugs were very easy to get to. Just had to remove braces and battery. I had to spray them with WD-40 to loosen them up. They were rusty and hard to get out.
