Mechanic was going to charge $300.00 to have spark plugs changed. I said screw that and changed them myself!

Why do they charge so damn much?

Wow, times have changed. About 10 years ago I had a local mechanic do work on my car, Got a call that it was ready, I mention to the guy that I had 4 brand new spark plugs in the glove compartment and could he install them. Sure!

Go down to get car and pay bill. He included $60 to screw the 4 in! I was so furious I never used him again!

Save him cutting line in teh DMV one time and made a fool out of him in front of the angry crowd. That was worth $70! hahahahahahachuckle

Sorry , I fail to see the humor ,
Nothing worse than bumping into dix in public spaces.
Most "pros" these days won't touch Customer supplied parts , ( and we all blame you!)

Did you bother to tell the mechanic what sort of car it was, the way you didn't here ?

Yes, I drove it up there and showed him what kind of car it was. I would have gladly paid him 50.00-75.00 for labor, he refused! I even bought the OEM plugs myself that cost almost 100.00!

I should have taken it to Wal-Mart and see what they charged, but I decided I would change them myself.

does Walmart even do that kind of in-depth work ?...I thought they were strictly a Tires and Fluids/Filters place

For that I get a full tuneup - add another $25 and I can get an oil change

Changing the spark plugs was a pain in the a$$ though.

Took a lot of time.

I already replaced the Alternator and battery by myself a year ago, that was easy.
