RE: I like the Japanese because ...
I lived in a town called Utsunomia -- about 100 km from Tokyo -- for six months in he early 2000's. Boeing had sent me there for six months to work with Fuji Jukogyo (AKA Fuji Heavy Industries AKA Subaru) to work on a joint venture proposal to the JSDF AKA Army.

I enjoyed it a lot, and had enough time to visit several cities and country sides. I found the Japanese to be very much like us and yet very different, too. Extremely polite and friendly but inherently pretty racist. Very tightly wound which they deal with by going out with the rest of the office and getting roaring drunk. Kan pai!

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose!

I would much rather have seen Japan become a world power than China.

I very much like the traditions regarding the Ronin

Gold is the money of kings. Silver is the money of gentlemen. Barter is the money of peasants. Debt is the money of slaves. Crypto is the money of robots.

Electronic music would have taken a different path without one Japanese man

I am also conflicted as that nation held my grandfather in a POW camp and near destroyed him during WWII.

Thaddeus Cahill was from Iowa.
Georges Jenny was French.
Laurens Hammond was from Illinois.
Harold Burroughs Rhodes was from San Fernando, California.
Robert Arthur Moog was from New York City.

I'm sorry. Which of these men is Japanese?
