Street Level Economic Indicators

It's getting very difficult to use a computer at the library now.

Last year, usually 5-6 open ones at this location, all times of day except 11-1.

Now we have people waiting in cue.

People can't afford internet at home.

Council postpones action on removing homeless people who live under overpasses
Homeless • Council postpones action on removing people who live under overpasses

Pushback from social service agencies this week caused the City Council to postpone a vote on a proposed ordinance change that would give police the authority to arrest individuals who are residing under state highway overpasses or any public property.

Councilors had planned to take up the issue Wednesday — then the emails and calls started pouring in.

“We have been contacted by a number of those agencies who are concerned,” said Councilor Anna America. “And we didn’t want to push it through without giving them a chance to weigh in.”

The EU has said it was a (human) right or whatever to have (affordable and open) access to the internet.

The FCC has declared "whatever the telecoms desire."

I don't think libraries should double as cyber cafes/homeless shelters.

I don't think libraries should double as cyber cafes/homeless shelters.

I can sort of afford internet, but I got tired of being hacked at home.

But that's not what the thread is about.

If you see negative or positive street level economic indicators, please share them.

I'll wager some places are booming, others notsomuch.
