nice topic~

gets the neurons sparking :thumbup

(how do i know what i know?.. well i don't **and it humbles me to admit that**, i'm in a reality of cyclic impermanence and i'm only running with what is self evident-- experience, logic, emotions, etc)

These are the questions I ask myself.

Why does everyone claim a truth when they dont know for sure?

Belief seems to be more about faith than truth.

Truth remains elusive and many segments of society claim truth.

From evolution, to science, to religion, and the truth is no one knows for sure.

Truth in this world is more about belief and faith than it wants to know.

It's a curious thing, when science claims most religions arent truth.

But their belief requires more faith than religion.

This world is wierd.

RE: How do you know what you know?
WE DON'T KNOW SH!T!

Opposition to this statement inversely represents the level of knowledge an individual has.

The more you believe we know, the more ignorant you are.

All science is rooted in axioms, and therefore by definition faith.

The funny thing is if anyone ever came with real truth and power, society would kill that person immediately for subverting percieved truth.

Lol.

RE: How do you know what you know?
Quote:In mathematics or logic, an axiom is an unprovable rule or first principle accepted as true because it is self-evident or particularly useful. “Nothing can both be and not be at the same time and in the same respect” is an example of an axiom. The term is often used interchangeably with postulate, though the latter term is sometimes reserved for mathematical applications (such as the postulates of Euclidean geometry). It should be contrasted with a theorem, which requires a rigorous proof.

I mean, I know you think you know, and that has value, but how do you really know?

I know, different faith systems always think they have the awnsers, and claim to know truth, I get that, but the people who refuse belief systems have the same faith in what that think they know.

Just how do you believe you know anything?

That's faith in belief.

Your belief, your truth.

Problem with that is you have to convince others to maintain it.

So tell me how you know what you know.

Prove this statement to me (bolded part). Do you know it to be true or do you just believe it to be true.

Personally, I don't think I have to convince anyone of my faith, it is mine innately. It doesn't wane or dilute over time. Sometimes I encounter challenges that make me question my faith but I've found over time I always come back to it.

Maybe God gave me my faith, Calvinists believe something like that. I personally think there is some point in time in your life when your belief becomes solidified, then it doesn't or cannot flow away. It's like a rock, that's how David describes his faith in the Lord.

Any way many people who don't have faith in God seem to think my faith somehow hurts them and it's their task to rid me of my faith, to change my thinking. I don't think it's my job to change their thinking, I think God wants me to state my faith and perhaps it's like a seed and is planted in another that may germinate into faith over time.

Truth counter: over 93 and rivaling the semen counter

To the hungry, expired chocolate in the word shapes of “truth” and “semen” are professionally known as a “Scooby snack”

Of course, poisoning all of us dogs with dark chocolate before the aspca is a nice truth, more of a felony misdemeanor of tasty logistics

The problems start when you have to force it on others.

If it's TRUE to you, that should be enough.

But no, that's not this world, that's has to force and kill for its beliefs.

That's the opposite of truth.
