As a public-service announcement to searchers of good will on this forum, of which there must be six or seven, I restate the time-tested assumptions that there are a few things that make a human life worth living.. freedom, bravery, and wisdom are among the foremost, with rewarding human relationships and the creation of great works of Art a respectable second, and Nature filling in the gaps. The face of the future promises to make all of them impossible, certainly so impracticable that the balance sheet of Earth engagement bears out no further soul-investment, and I am here to announce the dullards, leeches, and robot-men only have themselves to blame. We literally did everything we could in earth, wind, and fire, regret nothing, and will be sure to turn off the lights on our way out. Damnation will come simply from knowing what you have done to your own fates.

Using the Daoist philosophy,
there are three things that are essential to sustaining human life....
these are the 3 treasures or gifts of life

Jing, Qi, and Shen.

Does life need a multiverse to exist?

Thanks for the pin! I feel some need to explain myself (just starting now? after 20k posts?), and would confirm the above-mentioned Treasures refers both to the blessings of Nature which make life possible, and bigger than materialism, and also to actual printed books older than 1500, of which East Asia has notably more titles than Europe. Salvador Dali is simply the messenger.

The Three Jewels

In Daoist healing traditions, the "Three Treasures" or “Three Jewels” are the essential forces sustaining human life:

Qi 氣 "vitality, energy, force; air, vapor; breath; spirit, vigor; attitude"
Jing 精 "nutritive essence, essence; refined, perfected; extract; spirit, demon; sperm, seed"
Shen 神 "spirit; soul, mind; god, deity; supernatural being"
The Daoist text Gaoshang yuhuang xinyin jing (高上玉皇心印經, "Mind-Seal Scripture of the Exalted Jade Sovereign," or Xinyin jing "Mind-Seal Scripture," probably dating from the Southern Song dynasty (1127-1279), contains a discussion of internal alchemy (neidan 內丹), emphasizing the “Three Treasures” (sanbao 三寶).

A brief essay about the Xinyin jing ("The Imprint of the Heart") by the orientalist and translator Frederic Balfour[1] contains the earliest known Western reference to the Three Treasures: "There are three degrees of Supreme Elixir – the Spirit, the Breath, and the Essential Vigour."

Jing
“Jīng” (Chinese: 精; Wade-Giles: ching) is the Chinese word for "essence," specifically kidney essence. Jing is the most dense physical matter within the body and is believed to be stored in the kidney organ system. It is said to be the material basis for the physical body and is yīn in nature, which means it nourishes, fuels, and cools the body.
