They each paid 9$ I kept 2 thats 29

If they each paid $9 then it cost $27. Your speaking nonsense.

The answer is that they didn't pay $9 each. If the cost were $25 (which it was -- the "$30 minus $5" is meaningless) then they would've owed ($25 / 3) or $8.33••• each.

3 people bought a gift worth 30$

So 10+10+10 = 30

There was a discount of 5$ hard to divide so I gave them each 1$ and kept 2$ for myself

9+9+9= 27 plus the 2$ =29 where did the 1 go

Facts: 3 people bought a gift worth 30$

So 10+10+10 = 30

so before the discount was the gift vaule at $35.00?

need more informationchuckle

A bat and a ball cost one dollar and ten cents in total. The bat costs a dollar more than the ball.

How much does the ball cost?

Cheer

Five cents, unless OP is serving you, in which case it will probably be $2 more.

It is a fine thing to be honest, but it is also very important to be right. - Winston Churchill

What $1? The till got $30 with $5 removed, so it only got $25 total.

Each of the 3 paid $9, 3 X 9 = 27, less your $2 is the $25 that went in the till.
