No matter your political affiliation, we are to help the less fortunate.

The only question is how to go about it.

Don't throw a few bucks at charities and call it good. Help the people you SEE on the streets in need. One on one.

King James Bible
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

No religion in bible. All man made.

Yep, the largest share of the incoming money for almost every organized "charity", go to the execs' huge salaries, and yearly, in the millions, bonuses.

RE: When did I see you hungry Lord.
The lord ain't hungry ... those that believe should gather and pool their money in one account ... appoint some one or a few to control that money ... make sure all has to eat ... and that kids can attend proper schools ... possesion of things is only temporary. A thing christ taught all and yet no one saw ... ye are all blind.

You bore me with your constant whining. Sea has had enough!
So please go away, and I'll give you some of this useless yellow stuff!

I am a proponent to long term solutions as a government function, and giving to charity directly or indirectly as a individual.

That being said. Sometimes it is difficult to give to the street corner person with a sign that says will work for food, cause I just do not believe that is the case.

I am human with flaws. Perhaps this is one of mine.

there are organizations like 'save the children' but I don't really like working with organizations

I think organizations have better buying power when money and resources are pooled, but lacks the one on one contact that sometimes makes the diffence. It is a tough call.

Indeed. That guy wearing dirty cloths who looks like he slept on the ground out in front of the store, or on the on ramp. Toss him a 5 or a 10 or whatever you can spare. He needs it more than you do in all probability. I give more to the ones that don't ask. They usually need it the most but shyness or their dignity prevents them from asking

So many in need! This is just part of it:

“Is it nothing to you , all ye that pass by?...” —Lamentations 1:12

Together, we can make a difference. The stinkin' rich won't, the Vatican sure won't. It's up to us to do what we can, if even offering up a prayer.
