furious parents rent went up again

to the tune of an extra 92 dollars. from 1864 to 1967 a month start july. and in today's aggressive real estate market, its hard to find a nice neutral apt with 2 bedrooms for around 1350...and we dont even qualify for section 8 welfare status lol. moving is such a big deal, let alone a huge hassle. packing thousands of things, relocating and unpacking. of course ill be offline for a day or two. im thinking of going before the rent control commitee and try to come up with a solution to get some monies taken off the new rent, like 92 dollars! the owner of the apt complex is old, wish he'd croak soon. he's rich because he owns several other apts throughout the bay area. and i doubt there is any wiggle room for a senior discount of 25-50% -for my elderly parents. but even so, 1967 is small amount compared to the other apts lined along the coastline that sees costs of 2587 to 10.000 a month.Scream1

RE: parents rent went up again
Liberals want to keep letting in endless swarms of immigrants but they don't want to allow anyone to build new housing. That means there's greater and greater competition for affordable housing. The cost of housing is skyrocketing in California, but the liberals want to increase that cost by forcing all new homes to have solar panels. That's on top of all the fees, permits and regulations that account for 40% of the price of a new home.

Here in NE Ohio I just signed a new lease. Rent went up $15/month. Nice semi rural area with little crime. No complaints.

I consider myself lucky since my apartment is a nice 2 bedrooms with a patio deck of 20 x16 on the second floor and a beautiful backyard with a pool full of trees and vegetation for a staggering 290$ monthly!

How about putting a smile on someone face instead of a tear!

What area of the country are you in, Krampus? That's really a deal.

RE: parents rent went up again
Glad people are happy throwing their money away but I'll never understand. I've seen old people keep 100 dollars worth of crap in a 300 a month storage unit for a decade. Maybe i should stop trying to quantify these mysteries.

2k on rent and can't get a loan, what are they crack dealers?

Every vacant lot in my area is filling in with apartments.. Sad, could've been houses but whoevers been holding onto the land for 30 years pretty much wants a lump sum from a single investors rather than dividing into properties. Trickle down convenience. Just sell your gas station to the Persians grandpa, they get a tax break and already gots the startup money no loan required. And now you own nothing, grandchild.

You are living with them so how could they be considered for an elderly discount?

I spent my childhood in Hartford Connecticut but now i live on the south shore of Montreal and the deal is only because it is my sister house and i fix everything around.
