WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – Adult film star Stormy Daniels will receive a City Proclamation and Key to the City of West Hollywood Wednesday to recognize her leadership in the #RESIST movement, according to a city press release. West Hollywood will also proclaim May 23 as "Stormy Daniels Day."The City of West Hollywood said in a statement that Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford, has "proven herself to be a profile in courage by speaking truth to power even under threats to her safety and extreme intimidation."

After President Donald Trump was elected, the West Hollywood City Council affirmed the City of West Hollywood's commitment as a Sanctuary City and reaffirmed the City's commitment to its core values, which includes respect and support for people, the press release said. The proclamation is a sign of the times: A reality TV star occupies the White House, an adult film actress is leading the resistance, and a major American city is giving out a key to the city for being a thorn in the president's side.
