Not only do you have to get your hands dirty and greasy filling the ait in your tires, you have to pay a dollar or more for 3 minutes of use.

It's impossible to check all four tires in 3 minutes!

All gas stations used to have someone working who would do that for free. Someone who would attend to your needs. Someone called an attendant. Even mechanics.

you are paying to use a service.
the machine has to be bought and installed, the air has to be compressed which means the power has to be paid for.

the person still had to be paid. that payment came from somewhere else; higher prices.

or do you expect everything to be free?

I get nitrofill at Robertson's for 20 bucks with a fresh fill. And they charge less than 5 to top it off after that. I get it topped off between every 4~6 months. Nitrous is good for the tires and leaks out slower and doesn't compress nor expand big time like oxygen does from hot to cold. Metal valve stem covers and valve caps help too

hubby said the gauge will work to CHECK the tires without paying...

check the tires FIRST, then turn it on.

/seriously, i had no idea the gauge would work WITHOUT paying..which made him laugh and shake his head.

Buy your own compressor....

if you got low profile tires they could need a lot of checking. I don't know why anyone would buy those tires. They seem like a bad idea to me. And actually I hate those things.

Op, it's called inflation 'no pun intended. And it can always be worse, example is in Britain there's a clean air tax where if you have a house in the country outside the city and live in if you're taxed for being able to breathe clean air

Some gas stations around here charge a full dollar for air.
Absolutely insane that I myself have done this multiple times, and yet, it is hard to find one for half that price sometimes. It is coming to the point where I should have invested in my own pump.

In the UK if you get air for free. The gauge doesn't have to be accurate. It only has to be accurate, if they charge you for the air.

For me, air is always free when you buy gas. They will turn the compressor on again if you need more time. What planet are you on?

It wasn't too long ago that you would go to a free air station and find the hose had been stolen. This is the primary reason why air stations aren't free any more, because idiots steal the hose or the hose end and the owner of the station has to replace it at his own expense.

It's to get you used to paying for air. Wait 'til you see your monthly 'Air Tax' in your mail box ... over a d0llar a minute ... haha, chump-change.

Yo, just go to Walmart or Autozone and get your own tire inflator. They actually work. I use them.
