A few of the rose bushes died...

Either last years flood or the harsh winter...

If anyone knows how to find the cheapest price let me know...

In a store might be best but online is good too...

RE: Planting rose bushes...
About two weeks ago I lost $400 and have just about been sick about it...

Two pens fell from my pocket while I was mowing the lawn and I was afraid that happened to the money...

Anyways it showed up in the laundry...

RE: Planting rose bushes...
A few years ago Loews still had a bunch in the fall...
They were 90 percent off...
2/3 of them died...
They were a bit crisp...
That is the best I ever did...
I think they were / are slightly the wrong rose too...
A pink and the rest are bright red...

My parents use to plant Roses underneath the windows, to stop anyone from breaking in.

RE: Planting rose bushes...
When Home Depot went bankrupt they still had everything in the fall...
At a huge discount...

Anyways the manager gave me a even larger discount because they were angry about losing their jobs...

Know anybody with roses you like? Take some cuttings- easy and free or almost free.

RE: Planting rose bushes...
Don't know about anyone else, but if I follow all the growing hints & tips they die. I've got 7 that I got from Depot on sale. Set them in a tub of water 2" deep for a couple days. Just dug holes, no amendments or anything just threw them in the holes. That was five years ago & if I don't cut them back I've got roses as high as the eves. When I think of it, I throw some coffee grounds & the grindings from the shop around them. Must be just me do all the things you're supposed to do they croak, ignore them they take off like gangbusters, go figure.

Are you saying that you had $400 in cash in your top pocket and it all fell out somewhere? Were you not wearing pants with pockets? If not a good money belt works just fine.

RE: Planting rose bushes...
i dont do roses, that is a whole other section of the book i wont touch anymore....well maybe sometime in the future but not right now.

i had this one rose bush that kept growing these long ass stems, four or more feet long and no matter how i pruned it or what i did, (i even moved it one year thinking fresh soil/more sun would help)
for six long years that stupid thing wouldnt bloom, not a single time, not even a bud.
i grew to hate it.
i didnt care what color the roses might be anymore...
i pulled it out one winter here in central florida, happily relieving myself of the failure
and then found, several months later, the damn thing was growing back looking just as happy and green as before.
well i wasnt falling for it again, so i got the shovel and turned over all the dirt making sure i got every last piece of it.

i find you rose people are special, at a level i will not attain at this time.
i got mad respect for ya!

RE: Planting rose bushes...
ive read the best companion plant for roses is GARLIC.

the name of the companion planting book is ROSES LOVE GARLIC.
since i dont have any roses i have my garlics growing under the avocado and guava trees.
they are both a year old and they are doing well in pots with each other.

whenever i find a sprouted garlic in my kitchen i just go tuck them into one of the potted plants outside.ive had wonderful luck so far.they just want to grow!
