Five million Venezuelan bolivars is the equivalent of $1.45. It's also roughly a minimum-wage worker's entire monthly salary in the South American country.

Thanks to stunning inflation, it now takes 1 million bolivars to buy a cup of coffee in a Venezuelan cafe, Bloomberg reports. That's one-fifth of Venezuela's monthly minimum wage, and a 10,000-bill stack of Venezuela's most common bank note, the 100-bolivar bill.

To illustrate Venezuela's rampant inflation, Bloomberg has tracked the price of a cup of coffee since December 2016 on its Cafe Con Leche index. One dose of caffeine cost 450 bolivars when the index launched two years ago, but 43,378 percent inflation in the last year has led to today's astronomical price.

And, this is the end game example of socialism, communism, and liberalism. They will never succeed, and have never succeeded.. They're not designed to succeed. They're designed to control. Pyramid scheme, in sheeps clothing. It's how California will be, if you keep electing liberals Sheep

What is the point of working if you can't afford to buy food? Just rob a bank and get free stuff just like this dude did:

Time to rob a bank and go to jail and get FREE food!

You know... if you get enough of those bolivars you could make a ton of US$$$$$... you'd need a couple trillion, but whatever...

Serious question though, does sh*t like this make you want to travel to these places more, or less? Knowing that your money is worth so much...

I'm sure in the capital's rich areas you can still find a decent place to play tourist for super cheap :P Just so long as you don't have a guilty conscious living like a king in a city where the average person can't even afford to eat :(

Pretty sure that's NOT the issue lol. I think they decided to get away from the US Dollar just like Gaddafi tried. Their leader is also a dictator it seems. But then again, the military doesn't want to take over... makes me wonder.

Have you ever stayed in a jail. What they serve really doesn't qualify to be called food. Seriously.

Wouldn't it be easier to just get your shiit together and start earning a decent income? Work for yourself and earn as much as you think you need or want. I did and I retired early and now spend my days just f*cking around (i.e. I've been camping in my huge spiffy new RV for the last month).

The banks would rather inflate than have the wealthy take a tax increase
