Here are the WHO guidelines:

http://www.who.int/features/factfiles/breastfeeding/en/

The WHO says babies should be breastfed for 6 months exclusively and should be breastfed for at least 2 years! Current rates are about 80% of moms breastfeed. That's higher than it's been for decades. I just don't see why we need the government forcing us to do one more thing - especially when most do it anyway.

So what will be the punishment for women who cannot (there are many medical reasons alone) do that?

No more adopting babies!

Death penalty like Saudi Arabia and Iran have for homosexuality?

Why do you want to punish women who want to breastfeed their babies? Are you that sick?

I don't - WHO apparently does. They should get their noses out of our tits and quit legislating exactly how long to breastfeed.

People have the right to say whatever they want. You don't have to listen.

I, unlike the left, am always open to the communication. I do not believe that the government should come between a mothers nipple and her baby's mouth. Please tell me where I am wrong on this.

You are not wrong.

That is what the government does... they tell people what to do. They have the right to do that even if you don't agree with them. Same with posters in this thread. People have the right to their opinion. You have the right to tell them to go f*#k themselves.

Do we really need a government organization to tell us to do what comes naturally?

This was a real eye opener. Long story short, the US was determined to destroy this until Russia stepped in. Which makes me think Russia may not be so beholden to corporate interests as the US government is. It is a good read. There is much more at the link.

U.S. Opposition to Breast-Feeding Resolution Stuns World Health Officials

By Andrew Jacobs

July 8, 2018

A resolution to encourage breast-feeding was expected to be approved quickly and easily by the hundreds of government delegates who gathered this spring in Geneva for the United Nations-affiliated World Health Assembly.

Based on decades of research, the resolution says that mother’s milk is healthiest for children and countries should strive to limit the inaccurate or misleading marketing of breast milk substitutes.

Then the United States delegation, embracing the interests of infant formula manufacturers, upended the deliberations.

Lordy.
I've seen it all now.
Time for American influence in all things to go bye bye.

Look, Trump is not Obama. Just tell me what Obama did, I'll tell Trump and we will fix whatever it is that you seem to have a righteous indignation attached. I am not here to fight you. If you are good people who want good things, I am with you. Just communicate with with me.

Tell Trump to promote breastfeeding.
Thanks in advance.

Um...looks like you have no reading comprehension at all, or did you miss the part where I said, "Current rates are about 80% of moms breastfeed. That's higher than it's been for decades. I just don't see why we need the government forcing us to do one more thing - especially when most do it anyway." In addition, I posted several other criticisms as well. So, buddy, you can just take your IQ of 70 and shove it up your axx unless you want to apologize for your error, of course.

Looks like you are a leftist who believes that you have a right to make decisions for others. You do not have that right and you are a complete f**ked up asshole for thinking that you do. You do not!

Huh what ?
^^ That means tone it down in cleartext.

Duh recommending a healthy habit namely to breastfeed is not actually the same as forcing people what to do ...

I know where my heart is dammit

Breast feeding is the healthiest way to raise babies. We did it with ours, worked fine. They're healthy and well adjusted. One of us, usually my wife, read to them every night too. I don't think she missed even one night. They're all very bright and excellent young adults now.

Not everyone can, or wants to breast feed, so that's up to them.

This government gets screwier by the day, trying to block a simple recommendation for breast feeding? Big government needs to go away.

My thoughts exactly. My wife breastfed our daughter, I couldn't because she (my wife) had the breastesestests and everything, and I read to her (our daughter) the Nixon White House transcripts as a bed time story. It worked out very well.

The Nixon WH transcripts? The price-fixing of MILK transcripts? LOL - how was that supposed to help her lactation?

uhm, do you believe in the right of formula producers to market their product as the better choice?
because it's them who want to get there, between a mother's nipple and her baby's mouth
and that's what the WHO wants to stop

Lactation was not an issue because my wife did not understand, but my daughter did.

Spectacular miss of the point.

The WHO is in favor of breastfeeding when possible.

The U.S. took the pro-corporate formula-pushing position.

Please advise.
