Can you show me a country where you do own anything? Bet you won't find one dummy

llodial title constitutes ownership of real property (land, buildings, and fixtures) that is independent of any superior landlord. Allodial title is related to the concept of land held "in allodium", or land ownership by occupancy and defense of the land. Historically, much of land was uninhabited and could, therefore, be held "in allodium".[1]

Most property ownership in common law jurisdictions is fee simple. In the United States, the land is subject to eminent domain by federal, state and local government, and subject to the imposition of taxes by state and/or local governments, and there is thus no true allodial land. Some states within the US (notably, Nevada and Texas) have provisions for considering land allodial under state law, and the term may be used in other circumstances.[2] Land is "held of the Crown" in England and Wales and other jurisdictions in the Commonwealth realms. Some realms (such as Australia and Canada) recognize aboriginal title, a form of allodial title that does not originate from a Crown grant. Some land in the Orkney and Shetland Islands, known as udal land, is held in a manner akin to allodial land in that these titles are not subject to the ultimate ownership of the Crown...

THE SOVEREIGN STATE OF FORVIK

The official Forvik website is not functioning due to a long term problem. During its redesign the software writer was unable to finish the job, so we are left with a site which is informational only. Please do not try to sign up there because it will not work. The website is here and you can join below on this page.

Since its inception, the island of Forvik (which is part of Shetland) was intended to demonstrate what Shetland as a whole could do if it just asserted already existing powers. It was Shetland in microcosm. The purpose was to challenge the Sottish and UK 'authorities' to find out how they derive their power here.

The Sovereign State of Forvik has an international population and is largely a virtual enitty with just a small physical base. Forvik itself is about 2.5 acres (1 hectare).

More recently the focus has shifted to the Shetland mainland and the pace is hotting up. The Sovereign Nation of Shetland was formed (http://www.sovereignshetland.com) and we believe we are now reaching the end of a 10 year protracted engagedment with the courts to finally get an answer.

Shetland has oil as well! But shh!

If you lose one sense, your other senses are enhanced. That's why people with no sense of humour have an increased sense of self-importance.

So "significance" is your wiggle word.
I have sold property to other individuals without permission. Is that significant?

Sure the state can assert ownership at any time for a variety of made up reasons but you have to be pretty silly to think the state "owns" the nick nacks floating around the average home.

If the transaction required a licence, tax or any legal work on the part of any of the parties involved, that's state permission.

Did you manage a sale with none of these things?

Yup.
No license, tax, or anything.
Craigslist is a pretty obvious example of the volume of sales that happen without govt permission.

Regardless if you pay a small percentage of property tax (which goes to roads and schools) and car registration fees, it is still better than owning nothing and being a renter all you life.

Losing your home to fund EDUCATION is sort of ironic.

Again I'd rather pay sales and income taxes.

Also through gentrification cities have an incentive to allow inflation of property values in order to expand their revenue base.

When I lived in Seattle in the early 2000's lots of elderly people were forced out because their taxes were unbearable.

Sales taxes are a bit regressive, but it's preferable to housing instability.

And to be fair you could exempt everybody on their cheapest home.

Rich people with one mansion would be exempt too.

2 or more you pay taxes on the more expensive ones.

You don't see a conflict with these two statments? It was nine too stable for those who were forced out of their homes.

The point is they ARE renters for the rest of their lives. Get ill or old and can't pay your property tax? You no longer have the home you think you've paid for. That isn't ownership.

It takes seven years non payment (if im remembering correctly) to lose your property.

That is one long streak of bad luck.

Yet it happens. Cancer, old age.both happen.

Houses burn down too.
People die.

The point is they dont show up the day after you miss one property tax payment and sieze your home.
Maybe five years in you can consider selling rather than losing everything.
Being a complete and utter retard and losing your home isnt anyone but the owners fault.

I only bother with a bill of sale when its something like a car.
Recently I sold a set of rims and tires.
Why would I bother with a receipt?
Cash and carry.

Nasty little psychopatic thinking you have going there. Someone gets a serious illness or just too old to work and deal with maintaining gov permission to live, but if they lose their house, trying to stay alive, that makes them retarded?

I guess you'd be happy to just wipe out anyone who can't feed the machine.

Not really.

In my current city, your property taxes are set when you close on the sale, then over time this is supposed to diminish unless you make improvements.

Which is also shitty. You shouldn't be penalized for making improvements.

But apparantly in Seattle, old folks were getting their taxes jacked up because naighboring sales were driving up property values, as were neighboring developments.

It was in the papers several times; old folks having to sell and move away to somewhere with lower property taxes.

Sales taxes are regressive. Income taxes don't have to be.

But I'd rather pay higher sales taxes and income taxes if we could eliminate property taxes.

If I get sick, or want to quit a job and write a screenplay, and am out of work for a long time, I'd be more secure scrounging for food money than worrying about mounting property tax bills.

There is no such thing as sovereign debt. Reinstate Greenbacks.
