What Americans Heard in Cuba Attacks: The Sound

Published on Oct 12, 2017
AP obtains a recording of what some U.S. embassy workers heard in Havana as they were attacked by what investigators initially believed was a sonic weapon. The recording of a high-pitched noise is one of many taken in Cuba since attacks started. (Oct. 12)

I was hit with something similar @ my home in Tulsa a couple times over the last 4 years.

Last time was about 2 years ago?

But what I heard was more like a cicada, reeeeee-rrrrrrrrrrr-reeeeeee-rrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Vibrated my whole body, and it caused an emotional reaction.

The high pitched noise cause mania; extreme joy.

Then it shifted to a lower pitched noise which caused extreme despair.

I've mentioned it a few times here, and have been calling it the "manic-depressolator."

Because it alternated back and forth for a long time, until I wanted to CROW:

"koookoocachoo!"

Batboy

chuckle

There's some seriously screwed up technology out there.

Canadian Diplomats Affected by Alleged Sonic Weapon Attack in Cuba
By Joshua Philipp, The Epoch Times
July 10, 2018 5:36 pm Last Updated: July 10, 2018 5:36 pm

Canadian diplomats who were in Havana during an alleged sonic weapons attack in April 2017 claim they suffered injury, yet have been abandoned by their government.

The incident appears to be part of a series of attacks that injured U.S. diplomats in Havana, Cuba, and in Guangzhou, China. A health alert from the U.S. Embassy in China warns embassy personnel of the incident, and says that if they or their families experience a range of symptoms to seek medical evaluation or treatment.

It says symptoms include “dizziness, headaches, tinnitus, fatigue, cognitive issues, visual problems, ear complaints and hearing loss, and difficulty sleeping.”

While U.S. embassy personnel have received medical and treatment for the attacks, including for traumatic brain injury, diplomats in Canada claim they have received no such treatment...

RE: What Americans Heard in Cuba Attacks: The Sound
Here’s why scientists are questioning whether ‘sonic attacks’ are real
Using a sound wave to cause neurological damage would be hard to do

An account of another alleged “sonic attack” has surfaced, this time from a U.S. government employee in China. The employee reported “subtle and vague, but abnormal, sensations of sound and pressure,” according to a U.S. Embassy health alert. The episode mirrors reports from American diplomats in Cuba in late 2016, and fuels the debate among scientists about what, if anything, is actually happening.

Last year, 24 of the diplomats who reported sonic attacks in Cuba were tested to gauge whether lasting harm had occurred. In March, researchers from the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine in Philadelphia reported in JAMA that the people had balance and thinking problems, sleep disturbances and headaches, and that some had widespread injury to brain networks.

But some scientists and engineers have been questioning whether such attacks are possible, and if the diplomats’ symptoms could have been caused by a sonic attack.

The attacks were supposedly committed with sounds outside the range of human hearing. But generating enough acoustical energy to cause hearing loss and brain damage from those types of sound waves would be no easy feat, says Andrew Oxenham, a hearing researcher at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. The intensity of very low frequency infrasound or very high frequency ultrasound drops rapidly over distance, so attackers would need enormous loud speakers to have enough intensity to do neurological harm.

“Even to get across the street and into a building, you’d have to have a loud speaker the size of a building,” Oxenham says.

It might be possible to focus ultrasound into a tight beam to stage a high-intensity ultrasound attack. But even with such a beam it would be difficult to make a device small enough to be used as a handheld weapon, says Tyrone Porter, a biomedical engineer at Boston University. And that device would be more likely to lead to disorientation than brain damage, he says...

There's another way to do it, using RF microwaves.

THE WORK OF ALLAN H. FREY

In 1960, biologist Allan Frey, then 25, was working at General Electric’s Advanced Electronics Center at Cornell University when he was contacted by a technician whose job was to measure the signals emitted by radar stations. The technician claimed that he could “hear” radar.

Frey traveled to the facility where the man worked and stood at the edge of the radar beam. “And sure enough, I could hear it, too,” he said. “I could hear the radar going ‘zip, zip, zip’.” Frey went on to establish that the effect was real—microwave radiation from radar (and other source) could somehow be heard by human beings. The “hearing,” however, didn’t happen via normal sound waves perceived through the ear. It apparently occurred somewhere in the brain itself, as microwaves interacted with the brain’s cells, which generate tiny electrical fields. Frey proved also that many deaf people and animals could hear microwave radiation. This phenomenon came to be known as the Frey effect, or simply “microwave hearing.”..

(snip)

In a study published in 1975 in the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, Frey reported that microwaves could induce “leakage” in the barrier between the circulatory system and the brain. Breaching the blood-brain barrier is a serious matter. It means that bacteria, viruses and toxins from the blood can enter the brain. It means the brain’s environment, which needs to be extremely stable for nerve cells to function properly, can be perturbed in other dangerous ways. Frey’s method was rather simple: He injected a fluorescent dye into the circulatory system of white rats, then swept the ¬microwave frequencies across their bodies. In a matter of minutes, the dye had leached into the confines of the rats’ brains. Dr. Leif Salford, whose work is also highlighted here, is currently the most active researcher continuing Frey’s pioneering work on the blood-brain barrier.

We should use this more often. The technology exists and is easily retrofitted into headache causing Havana brain scrambler.

Would love to use this at the next socialist protest.

It induces forced emotional reactions?

Interesting. I wonder if it works on a psychopath?

Could it be a psychopath detector?

Yes it did force emotional reactions, very quickly, and that's about all I could tell it was doing other than scaring the crap out of me.

chuckle

I wanted to hop in the car and drive to an underground parking garage, but I wasn't fit to drive, so I just curled up on the floor by the tv and waited for it to stop.

No clue whether it would work on a psychopath.

And I suspect the purpose and intention was to freak me out, and maybe get me arrested or institutionalized.

But in hindsight it could have therapeutic potential also. That was not the reason it was done to me IMO.

But it might be effective for depression and other problems by exercising your emotional range.

Like rocking a car back and forth to get it out of a ditch.

chuckle

It would be fun to play with if I had the controls.

Having it done to me wasn't much fun.
