Late last year, Epic Games released Fortnite’s free-to-play “Battle Royale” game mode for the PC and other platforms, which proved to be quite popular.

It also attracted attention from thousands of cheaters, many of whom were subsequently banned. In addition, Epic Games went a step further by taking several cheaters to court over copyright infringement.

One of the accused is a young man, who was banned at least 14 times since he started playing. Every time Epic took action, he simply created new accounts under false names and continued to play and cheat at Fortnite.

What Epic Games probably didn’t know is that the cheater in question is a minor. The company likely obtained his name via YouTube or elsewhere, without knowing his real age.

The boy is accused of violating copyright laws by using cheat software that injects unauthorized code into the active memory of the game as it runs, not just codes. While he didn’t write the cheat himself, through his YouTube channel he showed others where to download it and asked for donations.

let me guess, the 14 year old consented to the game terms, only thing is that you can't enter into a contract with a minor at least without their guardians also signing

The article discusses that, but there are apparently exceptions. It seems that the kid can be sued.

Is that cheating?

Of course it's cheating. No one even denies that. The question is can a kid be legally liable?

A child can be accused and convicted of murder.

Game cheating... I hope he owes them his income for the next twenty years of his life.

^THIS^ is why we need 'Internet ID's' to access the web.

They would be as anonymous as vehicle license plates.

That stated I admit I no longer have 'blind license plates' on my vehicles and have not for twenty years; I have nothing to hide.

The success or failure of your deeds does not equal the sum of your life. Your spirit cannot be weighed.

Judge yourself by the intent of your actions and by how you faced the challenges that stood in your way.

The universe is so vast and we are so small.

There is really only one thing we truly control: whether we are good or evil.

I remember back on Borderlands, I had to be at least level 10 to beat some stupid Boss Bandit with some Shotgun, BOOM DEAD! Instant!

I got destroyed over many times I could remember to realise the fact I was on level 6.. chuckle
