I help others almost everyday but I sure as hell don't discuss it here and rarely with others...I am not saying don't help people in front of others,I am saying that there is no reason to fish for the kudos....it is better to give than to receive.

During the thanksgiving holidays, if I see someone behind me driving a 20-30 year old car, I pay for their meal in the drive-thru. They probably need all the help they can get.

dude! love what you did for the lady. noble.

but i advise caution on the thing you say here. first of... they're in the drive thru. 2nd, you don't know how many cars they have. and 3rd... you probably just tipped the cashier a fifty.

Similar to good intentioned peeps giving to red cross charity or fema and expecting those who need supplies actually get them, like how mayor in puerto rico was withholding from those who needed it for her own self interest. They found the food in a dumpster.

I did my good deed for today. A customer in front of me was $4.57 short trying to buy her groceries. I gave her a 5 dollar bill and paid her remaining balance.

Strange thing is the person behind me got pissed at me for helping her out! The person behind me asked me why the hell did I do that for? I told them she needed help, so I helped her out.
And they told me that I shouldn't do that and said if they can't afford it, that is their problem, not my problem, and I told them, sometimes its good to help people out every now and then and they should try it some time.
Good on you Dan!!
Sort of makes you hope you see the person behind you standing on a street corner with a sign begging change just so you can bean them right between the eyes with a quarter.

You left out the part where they found a ton of parts & equipment to get their grid back up! The funniest video of her is when she was standing in front of stacks of pallets of MREs & water screaming "We're starving here!" A little experience of mine to make you take another look at Red Cross. I was on a PD search & Rescue team we were working with county fire on their hand lines. A couple of us went down the hill to the Red Cross trailer to get a cup of coffee at the Red Cross trailer only to find a sign saying coffee was 15 cents a cup & donuts were a dime. On the other side of the road was a trailer (a little shabbier than the shiny brand new Red Cross rig). It was run by the Salvation Army & coffee & donuts were free! Not even a donation jar! The ladies asked us to tell the other guys on our team to come get coffee when they could. I've seen & had other experiences with Red Cross, but that's for another night. Do a little checking & learning before thinking about them & getting blinded by the shiny gear.

Good deed man.

Wife and I were in a restaurant talking about the things we like on the menu. This is a place we really don't like to spend much money at because it is nothing fancy. We were talking about who could get the cheapest best tasting thing on the menu and for how much.

When we left to pay for our meal, manager said it's free, the woman behind you paid for your meal when she left.

She must have thought we were poor because we were talking about getting the cheap meals.

We said thank you very much but give the money to the waitress, we will pay for our meal.

There are good people out there.

I like to hear about good deeds, the story was about another person complaining about his good deed.

He was not bragging.
