I did my good deed for today. A customer in front of me was $4.57 short trying to buy her groceries. I gave her a 5 dollar bill and paid her remaining balance.

Strange thing is the person behind me got pissed at me for helping her out! The person behind me asked me why the hell did I do that for? I told them she needed help, so I helped her out.
And they told me that I shouldn't do that and said if they can't afford it, that is their problem, not my problem, and I told them, sometimes its good to help people out every now and then and they should try it some time.

Why do people get pissed if you are helping someone out? I just don't understand it!

Some people are just plain rude and don't lift a finger to help anyone these days! We live in a sick world!

I was once told it's like feeding stray cats...and I said good. when you die, they'll eat your body...that pretty much shut that conversation down.

You did well, OP. Forget the complaining person behind you. Some day he'll need help and might then see that it's good to help people.

It is a fine thing to be honest, but it is also very important to be right. - Winston Churchill

well on at least two occasions the lady in front of me at the drive through paid for my meal. I asked at the window and they said she does it all the time for random people behind her.

During the thanksgiving holidays, if I see someone behind me driving a 20-30 year old car, I pay for their meal in the drive-thru. They probably need all the help they can get.

I once gave $50.00 at the drive-thru and told them to pay for everyone's meal behind me. I usually do this during thanksgiving or Christmas holidays because I think it is good to help people out.

I have had my meal paid for several times in a drive-thru window over the years. I always pay it forward. Its the right thing to do.
