Cheers
The nihilism it breeds in those who recognize it is ever present here. It's why I rarely post and others drink or rant like madmen. Something I can also become guilty of if I give the notion of changing anything too much credit. Day by day.

90% +.
Thanks, I agree.
Yet, even the arrest reports are faked.
Or the event the person was supposedly arrested for didn't happen.

I wonder who writes the scripts.
I want to call out these local tv reporters who stand in front of fake "crime scene tape" and report on something that they are making up.
Reporting on fires there are no photos of.
Crimes there is never any cctv footage of. No interviews with police.
Just think window dressing of stories and interviews with alleged victim's families that appear to be making it up in cooperation.
You find out these local stations are not affiliated with news networks but are independent "reporters" that seem to have a free reign to make up their reports.

I agree that the alternate media also make up stories for money and clicks, too.
It is unbearable to realize this in a roomful of relatives who believe all these stories are true. You are wasting your time to point it out.
When and how long has it been this way with the media?

Years ago, I used to be a news hound. I bet half the stories I followed back then weren't even real.

Not fakes so much as spoken to from the perspective of the law officer. You have to factor that into your interpretation but just because two sides are not consistent does not mean that one or the other is correct. Somewhere, they fit together and reason is found. However as civilians we have to endure the unknown because we don't have all the information in a great many instances and access to what is available narrows by the day.

As for media in general I don't trust a word. I take two sides and put facts together to create my own whole. That's all any of us can do.

I guess so.

You want to know my earliest fake news story?
The burning of the Library of Alexandria and the scrolls and books being lost.

I actually think the Roman army looted the library and then set it on fire to disguise the theft.

I think that this stuff is hidden away from the world. Some in the Vatican. But, other stuff is held by cabals. The secret knowledge is the seat of their power.

Knowledge is power. Burning it is honestly most likely. In their time they would regard physical treasures over documents and knowledge and space is limited on the train back from plundersville. This is where the unknown factors into play. If nobody can really know, than outside of an opinion is there any other reason to consider it? A question I consider often.

Isn't it just another tactic to label away from the truth? For example: 'Conspiracy Theorist.'
Fake news is the new conspiracy theory!

I get what you mean.
For instance, I've been aware of "fake news" for more than decade.
But, my mom thinks it's something new and associates it with being a conspiracy popularized by Trump to discredit "the news".

Thereby making fake news be in a category of conspiracy that makes everybody roll their eyes and think it's so tin hat silly.
It was a brilliant move on the part of the media when so many were aware that they were faking the news all day every day and had been probably since the inception of television and radio before that.

That pretty much nails it on the head! Good post! Beer32

90%. The 10% remaining is simple arrest reports and day to day local stories. The prime time news is always politics and sensationalized media which is 100% sh*t no matter where it's sourced. The alternative media is more guilty than the mainstream of pandering and baiting titles for views and IMO is even worse. Real information comes by factual evidence and verifiable witness testimony. Which is only one line in a 30 minute news segment. Unfortunately if you want the actual facts you have to put them together yourself. The news all exists to sell you content.

I think they are one in the same; used to discredit! But I take your point though.

I admit I'm comparing apples to oranges from even my own perspective which honestly is more in alignment with what you're saying about one in the same. I absolutely hate what media has turned it into. "Fake news" is a narrative that is eaten up by the zombies watching face news. If that makes sense...
Ttpcmasm

The media was allowed to write the narrative once they got "outed".
They have made it into a story where they write propaganda pieces blaming a false paradigm of Repub vs. Demo controlled media arms.
The limited hangout version.
Both the media and the political foes are inventions.

But, here's what intrigues me. These so-called small market reporters KNOW they are faking these stories.
They know they are standing in front of a building and pretending the story they are reporting. Their bosses KNEW they sent them out to invent and create a fake news story for the 5 o'clock broadcast.

What do they tell themselves about what they "do" for a living?

That it pays and if they're going to put in the work to get to that level of journalism they may as well "play ball" and reap the rewards. There is no similar alternative. I would probably make the same choice. Culturally one person would have a hell of a time changing anything. There was that one reporter a long time ago. She started the news cast mentioning how all anyone wants anymore is death and blood, referencing the entertainment culture news was turning into at the time. She then promised to provide it shortly before blowing her head off on live TV. If that doesn't help people wake up, likely nothing will. They ate it up and asked for more.

Wha? Er, I don't remember that.
They just understand it's a business and that it's owned by a media company somewhere.
The one I am thinking of locally is owned by Graham Media Group.
I suppose the Graham in question is Katherine Graham?

They are currently re-writing history with their movie about the Washington Post starring Tom Hanks. Small world.
