Oh Pooky, why would you cling to Trump's lies?

Gov. Scott of FL is no liberal.

The weather Channel is not Liberal, and neither are these organizations that investigated the number of deaths:

It's Not a Conspiracy: Thousands Died in Hurricane Maria

"In December, a New York Times investigation found that over 1,100 people died in Hurricane Maria. The official death toll at that time grew slightly to 64. For its investigation, the Times studied mortality data from years past and compared it to records from the weeks following the storm.

Seven months after Hurricane Maria, the New England Journal of Medicine published a Harvard University study that estimated the storm’s death toll was 4,600 to 5,800. The study surveyed over 3,000 random households across Puerto Rico and compared its findings to mortality rates from the same period in 2016.

Last month, several reports found that the death toll was far greater than “6 to 18 deaths.” An analysis of death records published in the Journal of the American Medical Association estimated as many as 1,100 people died in Hurricane Maria.

A short while later, the Puerto Rican government claimed, in a report filed to Congress, that the death toll was at least 1,400 people.

At the end of August, the official death toll for Hurricane Maria increased from 64 to 2,975, likely the number President Trump refuted in his tweets. Puerto Rican Gov. Ricardo Rossello raised the death toll after an independent study from the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University found that doctors on the island were not trained properly in how to classify deaths after a disaster.

The president disputed all of these independent studies, repeating an early death toll that only 6 to 18 people died from Hurricane Maria. He previously used the low death toll during a press conference on the island last year when he compared the storm to a “real catastrophe like Katrina.""

https://weather.com/news/news/2018-09-13...death-toll

Yeah, and right before mid terms, new numbers will come out to be 8,000 then before the 2020 election that number's gonna jump to 10,000, and then when they're burrying him, it will be 20,000, and they'll break it in the news in the middle of his funeral. And it will alllll be his fault.
He's disputing it, so maybe he might know some things that we don't, but will soon enough. I've seen how shady people have been concerning that Hurricane and used it for their political agenda, so I'm skeptical of such research.

The official death toll is now 2,975, based on all of these various studies, it is not likely to go up. Please stop making sh*t up. Trump lies all of the time to cover his ass why would he be telling the truth this time? He is not, he is denying/lying about what is provable, based on the scientific research done by different organizations.
Why do you feel such a need to accept the lies of the biggest self serving liar on the planet?

The conspiracy would have to be many thousands of people to fake research like that. All of them are supposedly democrats OUT TO GET HIM, according to Trump. That is BS.

This should be grounds for impeachment!!!

‘My father died alone, without power’: Internet explodes in fury as Trump denies 2975 Puerto Rico deaths

"President Donald Trump has made many vile and offensive statements. Ask anyone in America what they think is the worst thing he’s said and there’s probably a good chance they’ll be able to come up with one.

But denying the hurricane-related deaths of 2975 Americans may be the most inhuman remark President Trump has ever uttered. And the fact he did it the morning before a major deadly hurricane is about to hit the Eastern United States makes it all the worse.

Earlier Thursday morning President Trump took to Twitter to say, “3000 people did not die in the two hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico.”

Except, they did.

A Harvard study found “4645 excess deaths” due to the hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico. In fact, the study’s authors say “this number is likely to be an underestimate because of survivor bias.”

But the official study by George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health finds 2975 people died because of the hurricanes.

That independent study’s results have now become the official death toll, according to the government of Puerto Rico.

By comparison, there were 2977 victims who died on 9/11.
1833 people died during Katrina.

Meanwhile, President Trump’s tweets, his sheer denial of the deaths of “3000” people, have caused tremendous outrage and hurt.

Some shared personal stories of the family members they lost in Puerto Rico as a result of the Trump administration’s failures."

Reaction tweets here:

Yeah I saw him make that hurricane too, he's such an asshole.

BS most of these deaths could have been avoided they happened long after the storm was over. If Trump's FEMA and the National Guard and military had been mobilized in better coordination most of these lives could have been saved.

Most of these people died from no water, bad water, no food, no electricity to power health and medical needs, and from heat exposure etc. etc.

A single good well run and staffed and funded military tent camp and two medial ships would have save two thousand or more of the people that died.

You are literally saying that the Puerto Ricans are too dumb to fend for themselves.

They have to have big ole Merica come to rescue them like kittens stuck up in a tree.

You are the worst racist I have ever seen.

I have only referred to the people of Puerto Rico as American citizens. All people are powerless when an island gets slammed by a hurricane the size of Maria.

Regardless of skin color or culture or anything like "race". Human beings are human beings and major disasters require high quality disaster assistance to save lives. These were American citizens, that Trump left to die slow painful deaths of neglect, starvation, thirst, imagine how painful is is to need dialysis and not be able to get it, or to die of thirst because you are old and there is no water?

All people would need national disaster assistance to recover and save lives from that level of damage.

I like you and your posting but now you are calling me a racist for no reason? Please step off.

False, preparing before a disaster saves lives, not sitting there waiting for the government to come save you from your own bad decision making after the fact.

Its all about priorities, and Puerto Rico choose to not make disaster preparedness a priority.

You also have failed to answer why you slyly implied that Puerto Ricans are somehow too dumb to fend for themselves.

You are literally saying that Puerto Ricans (People of Color) require the assistance of whites (the American government) to survive a disaster.

Quit lying and twisting his words. You know damn well he's saying nothing of the sort. He is saying that their infrastructure was destroyed and they needed outside help -- like any area would. Like people in Mississippi did.

The issue is Trump's complete failure to make any real plan to help PR and complete inability to acknowledge that failure, which resulted in thousands of needless deaths.

Stop the BS about me being a racist.

Most of PR's financial problems are from laws about shipping regulations made by the US congress that PR has no effective say over.

Any island or the island nations in the Caribbean are not able to deal with a huge hurricane, there is not one that can hope to manage a hurricane the size of Maria without federal or international aid, if they receive a direct hit like PR did.

The hospitalized, elderly and disabled and poor cannot effectively flee an island or anywhere before a storm and many people expect a level of disaster assistance to stay alive.

Stop insisting on spewing idiocy, the process of pre storm and post storm disaster assistance is out there for you to read. It was poorly followed in PR. Many people died because Trump is a disaster as president and he can't manage his oval office let alone FEMA and effective disaster relief.

We know that now, god help the people of NC, SC, Georgia. Scream1

You do realize that Puerto Rico was in extreme debt. They couldn't pay their bills anymore. They let their infrastructure decline to sh*t and corruption was rampant. This is a fact. I know people that live there so stfu and don't pretend to be able to argue against it.

They were destroyed to make way for the rich folks that want to buy up the land and ship the residents to the mainland.

Right or wrong, that is what is happening

deal with it

Debt or no debt Puerto Rico should have been helped after that storm, these are American citizens.

They were, it’s jus that you leftists let three thousand people die to make President Trump look bad.

Can't flee?

They've had years to move out of Puerto Rico to another, safer, part of America, yet they choose not to do so.

Their economy and infrastructure is crap because they keep choosing to elect corrupt local politicians who willingly do what the establishment in Washington want them to do.

Yes, by implying that People of Color require assistance from White people you are being racist. That's a literal micro-aggression which you need to acknowledge.

Most of those stockpiles were in the control of FEMA and the disaster relief agencies that so poorly handled the storm/disaster relief process and let those potentially life saving supplies to rot.

"Liberals" did not have say over those relief supplies, "liberals" did not do this,.. more lies and cover for the real villain Trump who could have insisted on US military being in charge of the disaster to American citizens and US territory.

STOP pushing lies.

What? It took this long to get names of people who died? When the new number came out, I said no way. Even before he said the same thing.

What did Trump have to do with this anyway? Make the hurricane go somewhere else? The locals flopped the mop and big-time!

When you think about what a President can really really do, think Benghazi. Would he have left Americans stranded in a fire fight that lasted 13 hours? While an ambassador, probably running guns for Obama-Clinton, gets tortured and killed?

I think not.

It wasn't Trump's responsibility to take care of every little think Puerto Rico. After a disaster, especially when the infrastructure is damaged, there is going to be a higher lost of life. You can't blame one person on that, though. Help was given and people raised money to send over there.
