Whoops, felt a tremor just now. I always thought earthquakes occured during the hot summer months like it always has here in bay area...but its cold and rainy now

The moon / celestial objects' movements can cause them. Our magnetosphere is a bubble. The bubble gets pushed on by other bubbles by other masses and quakes happen. That's a rudimentary explanation
