Independent.

As in people don't need one another for financial support, emotional support, etc.... and all the other ways people enable one another.

If they come together, it will because of want, not need. It will eventually make for better relationships (friend & romantic) in the long run.

I do see some painful adjusting for some who considers relationships (both friend & romantic) now as a form of 'you owe me'. The best friend owes emotional support, the boyfriend/girlfriend owes sexual companionship.

Well no...they don't. People must learn to get these things from themselves. I'm seeing that now.
