Allow me to speak up for OP. I don't know OP, never met the person, but I can figure it out. Ok, act like OP is writing from here on:

I want to explain in some detail. See, Fred, a longtime friend of mine, has been eyeing my wife. At least, I think he has. Every time I turn away, then I turn back real fast, I see him checking her out. I don't like it and I want him to stop it. But I really need Fred as a friend. Fred does lots of stuff for me - he fixes my car, my lawnmower, stuff in my house that breaks. I use Fred, so I need Fred as a friend. But, this has gone on long enough and I want Fred to stop because yesterday, I saw my wife smiling back at him. So I want to warn him, but I don't want to be obvious and I also don't want to lose Fred as a useful friend.
