If you can't run either of those, try performing a a System Restore on your PC to a date a few days ago.

Firefox changed my search engine to Bing, which gives very weak sauce
ineffectual results on most of what I search for.

How do I get it back to Google?

When I go into 'Preferences' it's set to use Google as default search engine, still
it will not shift back to Google search, or any other search engine.

Even if I go to 'Google.com' and search, it's a Bing Search.

Help!!!

Pleases and thank you's.

Google is evil, you should never use it. Firefox is trying to protect you against yourself....

I use Bing, Startpage, Duckduckgo, etc....but never google.

Turn away from the dark side....

RE: Firefox Search question
When a malware takes over your computer it won't let you download and install OR run anti virus or spyware programs. What you HAVE to do is download Malwarebytes Chameleon to a usb drive. It will scan your computer and stop the problem. Here is the free download:

Thanks for the friendly help. I'm going to try what Natura recommends tomorrow, have to pick up a USB drive first.

I was able to change it to Duck Duck Go, which gives similar results as google was giving. Bing doesn't show what Google or Duck Duck Go does. So that'll be ok until I can try downloading Malwarebytes to a USB drive tomorrow.

Thanks for your help!! :)

Have to tried https://usa.kaspersky.com/downloads/tdsskiller to make sure you are not infected?

OR just reset Firefox and see if it happens again.. Cheers

I don't see how to reset Firefox. My Firefox doesn't look like
the one Popeye's link took me to. I'll try what Natura suggests tomorrow.
I've had good luck with Malwarebyte products on other machines.

Would like to run Kaspersky, they've brought some computers back to life for me before.

I truly appreciate this help everyone is giving. Jhikpghf

I asked Our Heavenly Father, and He said go buy a new one. He likes it when I can repair things though, so will try that first.

Maybe I should go back to being 'Condor'?

Stick around though Bao, you make some very good posts. Jhikpghf

RE: Firefox Search question
You have got a virus imho the quickest thing to do re-install the operating system or spend days hunting for it , then use Panda and Iobit programmes for catching anything in the future

https://filehippo.com

https://filehippo.com/download_cwshredder/

https://filehippo.com/download_spywareblaster/

https://filehippo.com/download_panda_free_antivirus/

good luck

The link I gave you is for Windows, but,
You don't have to download Chameleon, it is already in your Malwarebytes folder. You just go there and click on the first file which should have a yellow question mark. It will give you options to fix your machine. If it isn't there I can't seem to find a chameleon download for Mac, but likely it is there if you paid for Malwarebytes, not a free edition.
