RE: How much of your house do you own?
I totally agree with OP.

I got my home left in a trust to me, it is older and needs a new roof but the taxes keep going up and up. I probably won't male taxes due in January as I am out of work (spine issues)and short about a grand on my property tax. No family or friends to ask for help. It's about time I take myself out anyway, life is pretty glib anymore. 57/female.

I was reading about something that dulls the tax claws a bit but I think it is only available in Nevada and Texas (I'm in Texas).
From what I gather it's called getting an "allodial" title on the property and has something to so with, even if you own Property tax, they can't take your property or something like that over past due taxes, apparently all the other states got rid of it. I'm still trying to find more to read on about it.

Call up the assessors office in your county and the state treasurers office - see if you can get help of some kind because of disability.

I meant your COUNTY treasurers office. But start with your county's ASSESSORS office and see if they can give you advice.

If you cant pay property taxes on your home, then why are you paying monthly fees for things like

INTERNET SERVICE - ?

I would think having a roof over my head, is more important .

RE: How much of your house do you own?
Once again, I think the article has alot of bullshit in it.

The author claims the property taxes were about $5000 per year, in 1989 .

My home is 3000 sq feet, built new in 2007 , all brick, on 2 acres of land , and my taxes are only $950 a year.

Sadly, a negative story about owning a home, is always authored by someone who believes that they are not able to buy a home. And there is usually negative bullshit in the story.

DOes it matter?
All of us have a time stamp and when we die we take nothing with us to the other side.
All we "own" here is an illusion.

Dumbasses be dumbassing...

He's right. If you could really buy land for money, guess what would happen. All the people in the world would be living on Queen Elisabeth's property.
Quote:Queen Elizabeth II, head of state of the United Kingdom and of 31 other states and territories, is the legal owner of about 6,600 million acres of land, one sixth of the earth’s non ocean surface.

Yes, the story is full of questionable info, designed to appeal to those in society who
are unable to manage their finances properly, live within their means , or want to blame others for their failures.

Where is the home located, how many sq feet is it, how many acres of land does it sit on..etc..

the author of that story is a deceiver.

If this bothers people, then there are ways around it.
