Ok....give me your own moral judgment first...
But you just gave me yours first!chuckle

pinguu  Wrote: (12-26-2016 09:41 PM)
However what I'm saying is we already know the outcomes of free markets whereby cheap labour without rights are allowed to flow in by globalised /multinational companies with kickbacks going to government to allow such to happen...This is the way the ruling elite have chosen to force down product prices. However as a knock on that wreaks havoc and pain on the blue collar workers who have 1st world lifestyles and expectations.

That's not the "free market", it's some kind of crony capitalism. If you bring the government into the market, it's no longer free. The government either extorts our wealth through taxes or tariffs; or works with stooges to set up an economic monopoly (e.g., the Publik Skool© System; Electrical Utilities or Water Districts; or Congress-Critters passing laws to help one person or a small group at the expense of many).

pinguu  Wrote: (12-26-2016 09:41 PM)
Hence you got a Trump government coming because those that are about to be made poor and those that have already become disenfranchised have seen the writing on the wall and have voted rightly or wrongly for a last ditch hope ...Trump the so called outsider.

Yeah, in retrospect I can see the attraction that Trump has for the people who feel left behind and left out.

What surprised (and still surprises) me is the fact that so many of his devotees are able to accept completely all his lies and psychopathic behaviors and spend hours at a time doing this really co-dependent enabling of him. I did not know that about the American psyche, and still have problems accepting it!

pinguu  Wrote: (12-26-2016 09:41 PM)
However if your standards of living costs or assets like housing remain high you will have more than just a few upset out of work homeless. You then got all the ingredients for a violent gun toting revolution...

I wouldn't be surprised at anything anymore.

pinguu  Wrote: (12-26-2016 09:41 PM)
So what I'm saying here is you either end up with a civil war between the growing masses of have nots or somehow you start to collapse the high cost economy by not allowing property to be the bubble it is....Lower management wages. Bosses no longer able to earn more than 10 times their lowest paid workers wage...

That would require such an incredible heavy-handed intervention by the state that it would -- IMNHO -- itself cause a revolution: one that I and my family would join with our family arsenal.

pinguu  Wrote: (12-26-2016 09:41 PM)
We got exactly the same issues in the UK....Property value is allowed to blow up so much that it puts housing out of reach of normal working people until they are in their late 30s to mid 40s....Everyone is in debt up to the max .....

Put it like this we are coming to an impass and free market ideologies haven't worked because above all the biggest with the most to lose don't want a truly free democracy.

The system model needs a painful reset......lots will get hurt....But that's the way it has to be from the head down..Anything else is just a rearrangement of deckchairs on the Titanic.

Well, I think (and hope) you're wrong, but you never can tell. Unlike the UK, there are a lot of rather heavily armed people whose hatred of the State is just as violent as those who are angry at the rich, and would treat any entity which tried to jam "economic democracy" down our throats as a great reason to grab our AR-15s.

I don't want to be right...There's nothing good about unstable super powers.

Well nice speaking with you. Seems like the world is changing and anything could happen..

You and family have a happy new year..Cheer

Well, then we'd go back to having only a handful of million or billionaires, rather than a congress hall full of them.

The USA does not have cheap labor.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mi...by_country

At 7.25 an hour, we have the 13th highest minimum wage in the world. This could change soon, because there is a push to raise it to $15 minimum which would make us #1 in the world for the highest minimum wage, which would mean outsourcing anywhere else would incur less labor cost for the business.

Hong Kong is $4.19 an hour (different from rest of China)
Taiwan is $3.81 an hour
Brazil is $1.50 an hour
Philippines is $1.28 an hour
Thailand is $1.09 an hour
China is $0.93 an hour
Vietnam is $0.64 an hour
Mexico is $0.58 an hour
Indonesia is $0.47 an hour
India is $0.31 an hour

Like me, you've probably seen goods made in most if not all of the above countries. Right there is the reason why.

IMO anything less than the equivalent of 5 US dollars an hour is slave labor. People living in these countries are oppressed and don't have the ability to rebel against the government like our founding fathers did. A rebellion in China, for example, would be put down quickly and brutally by the military. I think the same is true for the rest of them.

Those wage figures are a bit misleading.

In those countries, most of the necessities are furnished by the state so whatever their take home wages are... is theirs to spend as they see fit.

That is not how it is in the USA...out of your minimum wage, you have to buy food, clothing, shelter and transportation...

I PHONE IS ABOUT COMMUNICATION NOT GREED.

EXCESS PROFITS AND PURE SPECULATION AND FIAT MONEY IS ABOUT GREED.

Iphone isn't a very good example actually.

I wouldn't wish one one any African.

Steve Jobs is DEAD, and likely from overexposure to WIFI and other EMR from his Ibads.

And the W3C pronounced way back around 2004, that "appearance of functionality" is better than no functionality for unfavored nations.

Meaning like the potato powered lanterns, Africans, if they get internet will get a very shitty version.

Railroads in Africa are in place but they go from mines to ports.

My point is a fairer more just system would connect those railroads to population centers, and we could license all products to be manufactured on all continents in which they are marketed.

The only reason we don't is we are afraid the technology will be reverse engineered and the machinery used to manufacture them will be retooled to make new and BETTER products.

We shouldn't fear that.

It'd be a good thing.

RE: THERE IS NO REASON WHY ANYTHING CAN NOT BE PRODUCED IN THE USA COMPETITIVELY
Computers are a good example.

Motherboards are made in Taiwan and a few other places.

Hard drives are made in Indonesia and a few other places.

Why is that?

The Chinese manufacture a lot of computer parts, India writes a lot of software.

Why don't we have Indonesian, Chinese, and Indian computers to compete with ours?

Noncompetitive neocolonial fake free trade laws.

And the Five Eyes intelligence agencies want to ensure no SECURE computers are on the market.

There should be a framework in place that ensures that if an American company builds an Apple factory in a foreign land, that they don't seize it and make other crap there.

But they should be allowed to learn all the details of how the factory goes together and how the products are made so they can design their own products in OTHER factories they pay for.

And they should earn enough money working at ours to build theirs.

That would be a fairer deal.

It saddens me that the first thing people think of manufacturing is a computer device. Are pocket phones and laptops the only things people want to buy anymore?

ITS ONLY AN EXAMPLE. THE PRINCIPLE APPLIES TO MOST "THINGS"

SUPPLY/DEMAND ECONOMICS OVERLOOKS MICRO SCALE LOCAL BENEFITS

A GOOD EXAMPLE IS WIND AND SOLAR

IT DOES NOT NOR CAN IT WORK ON GRID SCALE

BUT INDIVIDUALLY, YES AND VERY WELL.

SAME APPLIES TO GLOBAL PRODUCTION.

Wrong. Americans would want $200 for a made in USA hammer.

If americans could make affordable products, they would be doing so today.

Add to this the problem of stupid workers and it's even worse. Americans are idiots now. I sold my business and retired early primarily because it was become very difficult to find anyone that knew math, algebra, geometry, etc. Something is very seriously wrong with the american education system. If I wanted to continue doing business, I would have needed to import engineers and programmers from India or China or Korea. So, I sold everything to the Chinese and retired instead.

GUEST

YOU MISS THE POINT

$200 HAMMERS ARE THE OLD WAY.

USING BRAINS AND INGENUITY THE COST IS REDUCED TO $5

WHY NOT DONE BEFORE

BECAUSE BIG BUSINESS WANTS IT EASY, MAXIMISE SO CALLED STAKEHOLDER "VALE", FOLLOW NO REGULATIONS, CHEAP EASY MONEY AND SUPPRESSED LABOUR.

BUT WE ALL KNOW THATS BULLSHIT NOW.
