And more recently nowadays, they have covers to cover up all the ugly plumbing and hoses, belts etc to make it look more appealing.

Back in the 50s and 60s, the engine compartment looked simple and nice to look at.

Look at this Celica engine compartment. It's terrible.

Good observation! Anyone who has tried to trace an electrical problem will agree! Anyone remember back to the old fords and VWs? A VW you could literally diagnose most any problem on the side of the road! And you could repair it with a handful of tools. NO! I mean literally one handful of tools. Once you got rid of the flakey fuse block hardly a problem. Current cars, you need $10000 worth of diagnostic equipment just to figure out what's wrong. Finding & repairing the problem? Good luck with that!

Intentionally designed where you have to bring it to a dealer for repair$.

I'd hate to work on that engine.

Have you seen this... virtually vibrationless 5 cyl Duke engine?

This is the very nature of the ancient ICE.
EV's rulez!! Let's trash that caveman oil burner cr_p which makes the West depend on ME juice.

My next car is an electric for sure, consider that.

there is not enough lithium on the planet for everyone (not everyone, but they same amount of petrol cars) to have batteries for their electric cars.

consider this too.
