There a very shadowy group , bureaucratic and corrupt . Originally they were wachovia , notice how fema made their grand entrance when wells fargo was spewed onto the stage . Its all corporate correction , and they have every loop hole covered , being that they help launder fraudulent funds and help the govt shop at the corner markets for their favorite flavored pork rinds and crackling..

"A settlement has been reached in the Wells Fargo flood insurance class action lawsuit, which alleges Wells Fargo Bank NA improperly charged consumers with home mortgages flood hazard determinations (FHDs) and received illegal kickbacks for obtaining these FHDs.".............

Wow...you are right. They lost their insurance a couple of years ago on some types of their accounts. If the account your mother is using doesn't meet the above account descriptions there's nothing that can be done about the losses. And they have LOTS of credit card programs and transfer mechanisms.

I think they just stuck the bag with your mother if they denied and dropped the investigation. Did they say what type of account was attached to the card?

she just had a checking account with them.

other then that I have no idea. my sister went with her the first time.... and she doesnt know how to talk to them.

waiting for monday

Hope it works out but reading through this stuff it sounds like if you aren't worth a couple of million they tell people to go f*#k themselves. Plenty of complaints on the Internet about WF fraud handling for accounts under a certain amount.

The other anon in the thread pointed out a class action lawsuit, make sure to file a registration of complaint with them as well in addition to going to court. Maybe something comes out it, maybe it doesn't. Better the paper work is filed for the record.

RE: Wells Fargo nightmare
supposedly it was two fake cashiers checks

and the spending started right after those two checks were deposited.

lots of different transactions. some were atm withdrawals

I was even telling the fraud department to pull up the videos of the withdrawals.

isnt there a camera at the atm and it records you when you use the atm?

There's a secret about atm camera's. Quite a few of them don't actually have camera's installed because of bandwidth limitations. Most of them are 28,000 baud modems because a hard line modem connection is more secure than the internet. All those modem banks don't do anything but confirm transactions, dispense cash and a receipt. During big shopping days if you notice that the interact/ATM's are slower, it's because the clients (ATM's/Interact paddles) are swamping a bank of modems at a PO termination office (where ever all the telecom equipment is).

It's only at central bank attached locations they actually do recording since the infrastructure allows for camera systems. You'd be surprised how much of the security sphere regarding banks is complete and total bullshit. And how much of it is internal to the bank. From IT contracts I've been hired to go lifting rocks and write reports to highlight holes, 99.9% of all security breaches around banks are all internal.

It is very, very rare that it's external to a bank. Very rare. No one with any real talent goes after a couple of grand and that skill set is maybe a couple hundred people. Most of them working for banks or government.

Just walk into a wells fargo, find the manager and empty a magazine worth of ammo into its face. That usually makes a strong statement of dissatisfaction.

So my mother loses her wells fargo debit card... called the bank when she realized it.

Looks at her statement and goes wtf?

Someone deposited two fraudulent checks into her account. Using mobile deposit.

I have never heard of this before. An application that you can download and use your phone to deposit checks.

And then the person that deposited the checks, went on a shopping spree with my moms card. Her own money that she had in her account is gone. And her balance is in the negative thousands.

Of course those two checks bounced and she got a letter from the bank... saying that she is the one that did these transactions.

My sister went with her the first time to the bank. The bank blamed my mother for everything. Absolutely nothing has been done. They just closed my moms account and want her to pay everything back.

I called today trying to get to the fraud department. The rep told me to go to one of the branches and that she cant do anything for my mother. I asked to speak to her supervisor. She tried to transfer me for 30 minutes and then transferred me to their fraud department.

Once again I get a nasty woman from their fraud department. Who told me, that she cant discuss anything over the phone with me. And that I need to go to the bank and have one of the bankers call the fraud department. Which I informed her, we have already done and nothing was accomplished. The banker made my mother cry. She is so stressed out and in a lot duress.

This time on Monday I am going with my mother. Going to record our conversation and give them hell. And if they are going to give me the run around again. I will take them to a small claims court, write to BBB and other agencies.

This is beyond ridiculous. What is going to the branch going to do?

Fraud department cant tell me what they have and have not done over the phone, really?

She tried opening another bank account. However, after this incident now bank will open one with her.

Do you guys have any other suggestions or would like to comment? go right ahead

thanks

This mobile deposit thing sounds stupid, Doing everything by smartphone will prove to be our dumbing down.

We cant have high technology and nice things till someone has the balls to rid the earth of immoral people

RE: Wells Fargo nightmare
Give 'em hell, they have to investigate and refund the account if it as fraud.

In the future, might be wise to have mom get a secured credit card with a new bank and not use debit card for anything. It's easier to start claims with a credit card than an actual bank account, and it seems someone used a fancy swiping system (sounds internal, actually) to reproduce your moms account virtually.

The process could take a while, so family might have to step in and help mom get by till it's all resolved.

Good luck!

Hugs

Yes, but the fake cashiers checks f*cking rings every f*cking alarm that this was internal -- as in, Wells Fargo employees are involved.

Yeah well, save the muscles for the ladies. Lawyer up if nothing happens on Monday. Most of those jackals will be slobbering over the chance to sue a bank for an old lady's savings pro bono so they can gouge the sh*t out of the bank for outrageous legal fees charged back through the courts.

Plenty of hungry ones that know the system and how put it's balls in a vice get paid while getting their clients a settlement.

You'll have to bring the proof, and getting the videos from the cameras requires 1. A police report and 2. An attorney to subpoena the tapes.
