I think we are all slaves to our belongings. As we move through this life, our burden gets heavier. I struggle now to cast-off my burdens. Sell what I can, give away the rest. I've possessed so many wonderful things, yet they are a burden. Might as well be a millstone around my neck.

It's good to be free.

You have a good point. People want more and more, and then they are slaves to pay for it all.

I know an elderly woman who sold everything she had and now only has a place to sleep and a place to eat. She doesn't even have pictures on her walls, because all that stuff becomes burdensome, even to clean and dust is difficult for an older person.

That seems to be when most people realize what's really important, when they hit a certain age.

Exactly!

At the beginning of the process of getting rid of all my wonderful treasures, I would take pictures of them before getting them gone. Then even the pictures became a burden. It was like, "hey! I know I had this or that" Now I wish I still had the pictures because I forget what I had.... Dying twice can do that to ya. Too little oxygen to the brain before they zapped me back and put me on the breathing machine.

It sounds like you've been through a lot.

It must have been difficult to let all those things go. I could imagine that pictures would be the most difficult because of all the memories.

You sound like an amazing person. I'm glad you're still among us. God bless you.

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. His name is Jesus. Acts 4:12

The Old Testament is Jewish, those commandments while wise, only pertain to them, so rabbis claim. Except for the first 7 commandments, which bans Christian worship and belief as 'Idolatry' and punishable by death of decapitation or fire.

Their other books claim non Jews are not human, merely beasts to be used as Jews so choose. In other words, non Jews are all slaves, made only to serve the Jew.

There's much that must be considered in context.

Oh that's not true. The OT is also Christian, every single christian church teaches about the great flood, and Noah's ark, the ten commandments, Abraham's journey, Moses on Mount Sinai, and so much more.

Jesus quoted the OT hundreds of time, as did Paul and Peter. The ten commandments are even contained in the NT...EVERY ONE OF THEM.

The bible is ONE book, not two...it all goes together. Read Isaiah 49.

Those who altered the OT were and are Satanic. Self serving.

The Bible is an anthology of many books, each Book of the bible being a separate composition. Those who claim 'it all goes together' reminds me of the 'Jehovah's' (Satan's) witness playing Bible hopscotch to make their points.

Sure, I quote the OT at times too. All religious writing contain wisdom, seek the wisdom in them, don't consider them as a loaded gun pointed at one's head with someone elses hand on the trigger.

The Red Letter Words of Christ are all I need.

Now I'm content to just own what my backpack (a nice one) or tote bag can carry.

What really amazing is the 10inch tablet I use now is faster and more powerful than the desktop PC with Windows 95 I owned 20 years ago. And about 3000 dollars cheaper!

There's much other scripture that 'belongs in there' ....but it's not, they're separate books, just as the books of the bible are.

World Scripture
