Take off for police drones air force: Remote-controlled 'flying squad' to chase criminals and hunt for missing people

The first 24-hour police drone unit is to be launched, amid fears that forces may have to rely on them because of falling officer numbers.
The ‘flying squad’ will pursue suspects, find missing people and help solve murders. Assistant Chief Constable Steve Barry, national spokesman on drones, predicted forces across Britain would soon be using them as they are cheaper than helicopters and can perform some duties of bobbies on the beat.
But the move has prompted privacy concerns and warnings that the technology should ‘never be an excuse to cut officers’.
Devon and Cornwall Police has advertised for a drone manager to lead its new dedicated unit, which will be launched in the summer and shared with Dorset.

This is where we are heading. Just think if they could arm the drones? They could identify people, release microscopic drones on yo ass, stalk you. Then have something like this robot teamed up with it.

Amazon CEO and fifth richest person in the world Jeff Bezos got behind the wheel (well, dual joysticks) of the bot at the retailing giant’s annual robotics conference. He tweeted out the picture above earlier this morning saying, “I just got to pilot an awesome (and huge) robot thanks to Hankook Mirae Technology.” Other conference attendees videoed the event, and Bezos can be seen waving around the robot’s arms and asking: “Why do I feel so much like Sigourney Weaver?” Reports that Bezos then told the crowd to “bow down before your new king and master, Metal Jeff” are unsubstantiated.

So I guess we'll still have to pay cops to sit around and eat donuts all day long while robots do their jobs?

I remember reading how there's going to be 10000 drones over our heads at all times..

Checkout Argus( not sure of the spelling) for more information on the tech that they let us know about...

Skynet will be a good, and just and fair cop. It will indiscriminately kill without a conscience.

They want to see if you're growing weed in your back yard or on your roof. They want to peek in windows above the first floor. With a thermal imaging camera, you could no longer play hide and seek with them in the forest.

My opinion is .. police drones should not be allowed to go where a cop could not go without a warrant. A drone does not make surveillance legal.

Russian President Vladimir Putin presented Tillerson with the Order of Friendship.

It's a great year for kleptocratic regimes, oligarchies, plutocracies and autocratic hell holes.

Funny! Today I saw a drone at the stop light. Right there above the street. It had four blades and was black. It was probably about a foot wide. Looked expensive!

It could've been somebody flying around up there for fun.

Sorry no pics...
