No it isn't. Back then, the public's support was necessary because the Congress actually declared war in those days. Today, only a certain amount of public support is necessary in order to float a war, and these actions have been limited to nations that do not have the destructive potential to take America down. Any action against North Korea is about stopping that nation from acquiring that destructive potential, to a degree, and the limited support necessary can be augmented by developing what they will call an international coalition, after provoking North Korea into something, which will most likely not rise to the level of Pearl Harbor, but will give that coalition an excuse to strike.

Lmao
North Korea has some sort of potential because usa and israel don't occupy it yet.
This is the problem our gubs have with nk.

NK is the communists' hidey hole, the Federal Reserve headquarters. We do need to let China handle them. 1) Strange how Japan is ready to protect NK. 2) If the USS Reagan is sunk offshore due to being exposed to Fukushima radiation, it will be blamed on NK. That will be our next Pearl.

Ilomkcbm facepalm

Japan and Korea share a history of exchange and conflict dating back nearly two millennia, and Japan’s 1910-1945 period of colonial rule in Korea continues to cast a long shadow over its relationships on both halves of the Peninsula. Since the end of World War II and the division of Korea, relations between Japan and North Korea have been mostly defined by tension and distrust, punctuated by occasional periods of tentative engagement.

Fuskishima radiation is not drifting around like an invisible smoke stack BTW!
The Reagan were first responders and were not told what had actually happened. They got exposed to contaminated air and water, then she was "restocked" and put back out.. The Nimitz and Vinson are sitting waiting to be scrapped.

They are trying to get China to do the mop up. If taking N. Korea out is in the cards, the U.S. should insist that China launch the attack, or you might be right. They should be made to commit from the word go. Russia won't have a thing to say if China is the one doing the heavy lifting, but South Korea may be at greater risk if they are required to do all the lifting, so it would likely be a joint venture. Russia wouldn't be happy, but it wouldn't be in their interest to involve themselves at this point.

Is North Korea not an 'ally' of China and Russia? Any 'Regime Change' here has to be done by the USA. Given the choice, South Korea would prefer a non-aggressive approach with their brethren north of the border.

China is changing its stance on North Korea as we speak.

They will not let China become responsible for South Korea's safety. The US will fight a world war before losing that Asian beach head. Yes China is being asked to participate in exchange for NK's resources, but the Peninsula will never be allowed to be under Chinese control.

This is why we destroyed Korea and Vietnam 50+ years ago in the first place, to guarantee influence, control and encircle the dragons & bears.

They absolutely will not let China be responsible for South Korea's safety, which is why if North Korea goes down, it goes down as part of a joint venture between China and the United States. I agree with you.
