To hell with the Second Amendment

This isn't going to be a formal essay (mainly because I'm writing on my phone and I expect most of LOP to not read it anyway), but, basically:

F*#k the Second Amendment.

If you've read this far, and if you're seething harder than Rush Limbaugh at a Black Lives Matter rally, just breathe.

Breathe.

Okay?

Okay.

The Constitution is not infallible, and there are certain parts of it that are faulty, like the 2A.

[Breathe . . . . ]

Here's why. The 2A, which states that firearms ownership is a right, is based on the premise that firearms are a population's only way to protect rights. The corollary, then, is that if the premise can be shown false, the 2A is not a right.

The question is: Do firearms safeguard rights?

The answer is: No.

Did firearms prevent the US military during WW2 from detaining thousands of families just because those families happened to be of Italian and Japanese ancestry? Did firearms stop the Adams Administration from signing the Sedition Act, which made it a felony to publish negative things about the government? Do firearms prevent the NSA from continuously violating your Fourth Amendment right against unwarranted searches?

Regarding the firearm's mythical ability to prevent tyranny, can you name one instance where this actually happened? In Hussein's Iraq, you couldn't walk down the street without seeing teenage boys carrying loaded AK47s. Didn't stop Hussein from terrorizing his own people. Tyranny has been stopped without firearms, however. Most recently, the Arab Spring began when people toppled the Tunisian dictator through public protest--all without a single shot fired.

Can you accept that the Constitution is not a magical infallible document? And that the Founding Fathers, for all their wisdom and intelligence, lacked our hindsight? And that eighteenth-century political theory isn't the final word on how we should live and operate?

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not advocating a total lockdown on gun ownership. Quite the contrary. Guns are an excellent form of self-defense. They're also great sport. What I am advocating is that gun ownership ought to be considered a privilege, not a right. The Second Amendment is a totally useless, archaic concept--especially against our increasingly technocratic society--that has repeatedly failed and that does nothing but enable the deranged and the evil to harm the innocent.

The bottom line here I don't believe you have the god given authority to tell me a gawdamn thing. And neither does anyone else.

Where do some of you get off thinking you have any right telling others how they should live or protect themselves from YOU?

You obviously didn't read my OP. And if you did, you failed to grasp.

RE: To hell with the Second Amendment
Seems like constitutional relativism trying to craft principles of government from isolated situations.

Progressives love that because the law then becomes something fluid they can form, create, mold.

But if you really want a constitutional republic, then you have to recognize natural rights. It is the natural God given right for any individual to protect themselves from physical aggression.

When you have 1 opponent larger than the other there is a natural disadvantage. Technology can level the playing field, with a gun a smaller opponent can now defend themselves against a larger opponent.

It extends the idea of technology into our sphere of the natural right to defend ourselves. Similarly, the right to form militias is the right of any group of individuals to combine their collective talents and skills for the purpose of defense.

Large statist systems seek to eliminate the rights of groups and individuals for defense so they become reliant on the government, which then gives the government more power and authority (cost).

Whenever a bank makes a loan, it simultaneously creates a matching deposit in the borrower’s bank account, thereby creating new money.

RE: To hell with the Second Amendment
You know what is REALLY useless and archaic? Tyranny. In this case, the tyranny of the minority. Namely, you. You want the government to regulate what I can own. Fvck you. That should communicate my feelings on the matter.

Back to the issue of tyranny. America was founded on the premise that people, not monarchs or dictators, could govern themselves. It is a new concept in human history. Now, so called progressives and liberals want to take us backwards by putting the chains back on. And ignorant people who love socialism and leftism in general swallow it like tripe. They would gladly help you put the chains on.

So, fvck you. And fvck every progressive leftist liberal, antifa son of a bit*h who seeks to ompose their will on me. You will get my guns off my dead body. Thats it. If you want them that bad, thats what itll take.

Yes, we get it. Youre a beral who thinks youre progressive, seeking to eliminate the object of your fear by imposing your will on somebody else.

The slavers would have said the same thing. Unfortunately for you, when in the court of Reason, appeals to emotion don't triumph logic.
