So what. It's white privilege. Others need to make descent money too!

Is descent money the kind you have to go into a hole in the ground, down very deep, for which one must descend to recover the cash?

The USA should should set the minimum wage at $1000 per hour and rents at $10 per month.

Isn't socialism great? Free money! Wealth by decree! Everyone knows the USSR was a huge success. What could go wrong?

Obviously it's a failure in reality, however if we can construct a virtual reality where it does work, then we can just put everyone into pods and hook them up the matrix and let robots take care of their bodily needs.

Small business barely makes it as it is. Add another expense and many small business just quits. Wage and price controls have been tried many times and always fail.

Jhikpghf

Morons posting about decent wages don't yet realize that there will soon be NO jobs.

Small businesses don't get Wal-mart subsidies and tax breaks, and now bail-outs, but have to pay the wages while competing with these unfair business practices.

There aren't enough affluent people to keep the restaurants and other establishments open. Most places do not serve gourmet meals with high prices, yet the prices have gone up to the point where consumers can't afford to eat out at all anymore.

And, white privilege? Many, many small businesses are minority owned and staffed, yet they face these same factors.

Nothing is that simple. Your one line responses prove a lack of critical thinking skills.

Any job that can't survive a min wage rise is a job that offended human decency to start with.

Let's say they double the minimum wage from $8 an hour to $16 an hour. Who get's hurt? For starters the people who make $16 an hour because they have more responsibility from having more experience.

So, you end up pissing off a group of people who bought into the system of meritocracy only to be castrated. This then works it's way up the chain of salaries until you get to a high enough point where the wave has been attenuated by the lower classes.

You are correct they don't get minimum wage. They get paid much higher wages, talking 14-18$+ per hour wages around here where the cost of living is quite low.

I have a hunch those 4000 jobs still exist, but the crazy minimum wage increase just moved those jobs to illegals happy to work for $8-10/hr

It's not worth hiring employees any longer. And you don't even need them any longer. You can have your product manufactured in China. You can have Amazon handle the sales and shipping. You can have Google advertise for you. What a relief to not have to deal with arrogant snooty american workers any more. Cheer chuckle

Damn! You are just a glaringly stupid $#!t, aren't you.

Crawl back under your rock and FAP, peebrain.

Obviously, you don't live here and have never created anything of value so you are 100% IRRELEVANT and should be banned from commenting on our issues.

Wages, combined with all of the taxes, etc. were already stifling to business. Government's job is not to dictate how much a business must pay . They don't guarantee our income, so why can they guarantee employees wages?

Increased wages=lost businesses, period.

There's no way this is good for America, but Spiddy isn't American and constantly spews anti-American vitriol so, PISS OFF, Spiddy.

RE: Surprise, San Diego's Minimum Wage Rise Appears To Be Killing Restaurant Jobs
What country is this?

How would you feel if you wanted to buy a $3 hamburger, but the government said hamburgers must cost at least $4?

How would you feel if you wanted to sell your home for $100,000, but the government said houses cannot be sold for over $80,000?

Do people have any responsibility for working for a low wage? If the minimum wage is $1 per hour and you accept it, who's fault is that?

If you want more money, work harder, learn a skill, or start a business.

You cannot get wealth by decree.

Do you think raising the minimum wage will reduce prices?

Why doesn't the state get really progressive and just say, okay we'll secede from the union and print our own currency. We'll set up a new central bank, but instead of our currency being tied to the dollar (debt) it is allowed to float freely in relation to other currencies.

Then they can print as much money as they want, and subsidize people's labor. So let's say they calculate that a person needs to make $20 an hour to have a "fair" lifestyle in California, they can make the employer pay $10 an hour while the state pays the other $10 an hour.

lol ...for California try $45 an hour for anything resembling a lower middle class compared to other states ... oh and should you actually be hoping to own a home this would be closer to $75 an hour considering your mortgage will be in the $3,000 to $4,000 a month range.

Some may say oh but you can live out in the desert areas for a little less, ...true except when considering the 2 hour commutes one way in heavy traffic. You would need to add a minimum of about $800 a month to the transportation budget, basically putting you right back where you started.

minimum wage in California means 4 people working to pay rent i.e anywhere from 1,700 to 2,400 for a 2 bedroom... or you rent someone's converted garage or studio apartment for $900 a month.

even then
the $15 is not out of the kindness of their hearts, it is a way of getting people off of medicaid which literally cuts off at $14.98 an hour... this in turn forces people to either buy insurance or forgo the tax refund check at the end of the year... per obamacare even with subsidies they end up going right back to an equivalent of making $10.50 an hour.

the only difference is the state saves money on medicaid payments. they have to do this because the federal money for medicaid is now being cut back per the agreement when signing up to provide obamacare exchanges.

☯ On occasion I sit on the edge of the universe, to watch new space expand as stardust shining in the light, with thin threads of blue flowing out like rivers giving birth to new life. ☯
