You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.

So many people seem to be upset at the snails pace that minimum wage has gone up in the past thirty years, but those same people seem to turn a blind eye to the wages of executives which have grown around 90 times faster than minimum wage.

Thats funny.
I live in AZ.
I think you're full of sh*t.

I don't give a sh*t what you THINK, retard. This probably doesn't impact GHETTO AREAS like where you live. Lmao

I have had small business owners, waiters, waitresses, landlords, computer repair guys, computer shop owners, government workers -- ALL tell me that they have had hours cut or had to cut employees' hours. Even my neighborhood pizza shop, which had planned to expand to include delivery service, decided NOT TO after Prop. 206 passed.

Absolutely, that's why these foreign stains should stay out of our affairs.

A pizza is $25 or more now.

That is not doable for most Americans. Even at $15/hr that's 2 hours pay for one meal. Most of us eat 3 times a day, and pizza is, or was, cheap food.

And, more taxes, more taxes, higher premiums, higher fees, less service, and self checkouts are what we get as these changes take effect.

More businesses are failing daily. Some don't realize it yet.

Others are in denial because they have put their life into something and have no means of support.

The reality is harsh and higher wages won't make you less poor because everything costs more as a result.

This is causing massive inflation and business death, and starvation.

The weekly bill at the market has gone way up, and it continues to rise despite bulking up and bargain shopping.

And, the cold is coming, along with crop failure, so it's going to get worse.

In a small nation with limited agriculture, Brits should be concerned.

A small, incremental increase is acceptable to offset inflation, but they have escalated inflation to reduce their repayments and we all suffer because the large increases they propose can't be absorbed by most businesses.

What country is this?

How would you feel if you wanted to buy a $3 hamburger, but the government said hamburgers must cost at least $4?

How would you feel if you wanted to sell your home for $100,000, but the government said houses cannot be sold for over $80,000?

Do people have any responsibility for working for a low wage? If the minimum wage is $1 per hour and you accept it, who's fault is that?

If you want more money, work harder, learn a skill, or start a business.

You cannot get wealth by decree.

Do you think raising the minimum wage will reduce prices?
working harder is not the answer . ive worked for places that punish people when they work harder

If I lived in the ghetto then a change in min wage would have a much more noticable impact on my neighborhood.
Thats the problem with short sighted idiots trying to sound smart.
Theyre not and thus can't see the blatant problems with their sh*t.

The key problem to all your chicken little worldviews is that the economy is not only effected by the one thing your tiny brain can think of at any one time.
This min wage increase did not happen in a otherwise static and unchanging economy.
Thus you cannot simply point to one thing and claim all economic change is the result of that one thing.

Ill just point out one of the AZ state economic problems.
Snowbirds often built their retirement with the assumption they would be getting some interest income.
Interest rates are basically zero.
Thus snowbirds has less disposable income.
Thus AZ economically suffers.

If I was a dumbfuck I'd blame that one thing.
I'm not.

Does a higher minimum wage help keep the cost of US exports low?

Does a higher minimum wage help keep prices low for those on Social Security?

Does a higher minimum wage help reduce government budgets when government janitors, cooks, and clerks must be forced by law to get pay raises?

Does a higher minimum wage encourage companies to hire more workers?

Why should the government force you to accept a higher wage?

Would you rather have a $15 per hour minimum wage and a 15% unemployment rate or a $2 minimum wage and a 2% unemployment rate?

Would you rather have a $15 minimum wage and be jobless making $0 or have a $2 minimum wage and earn $2 per hour?

Depressions and mass unemployment are not caused by the free market but by government interference in the economy.

All cost increases are passed on to the consumer and I won't pay it.

Government never furthered any enterprise but by the alacrity with which it got out of its way.

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
