how fast do you drive op? I have driven a 150km trip at 90 like I want and burned 1/8 a tank. Did 100-110 like the passenger wanted coming home and burned nearly half a tank. I know the gauge is a pretty accurate. I can look at it and know "Ok, 65 will fill it" or whatever and never be more then a dollar off

Plans are in works if they go right. I will have one card for normal everyday purchases. Another back up that will keep for emergencies and will not use it.

Jhikpghf

Or use the card for everything, and pay it off before the end of month. Have cash in your pocket as the emergency fund, not dependent on the system; electricity, phone lines, only buying things where they have a card swiper.

Only had like $4.00 left of credit and had to go over to fill my tank up. I had to fill up to get to work this week had some unexpected days had to fill in. I have not done that in years. But Was like if i am going to be forced to pay $35.00 extra dollars might as well fill up.

S977

Seems like when you try to manage your money better you get further behind.

Had a half a tank and it seems once it passes that my car just guzzles it.

Would have had enough if till my next pay check this week but did not expect to have to work extra days. Would have been on Empty by Sunday.

Miscalculated

Sounds like your a single male living in a first world country.

Only had like $4.00 left ....

How can you live like that? Have you no ambition or motivation to get ahead of the game? Why are you wasting your time here?

RE: Just had to go over my credit limit to get gas.
Here's the reality of your situation: you went over your limit, which I imagine was because you went through all your earnings with days left until you get paid again. You needed gas, so in addition to the cost of the fillup, you are also $35 more in the hole.

Now the problems will accumulate, as the secured card company will gladly take more $35 over-limit fees from you, because the hole will just get deeper. Let me ask you this: how are you going to be able to pay off the extra $35 that you owe now? Will you have $35 in throw-away money, and still have enough to pay all your bills until the next payday?

You said that extra obligations "hit you" this time, but why were you caught off-guard? You have to pay these things year after year, so why did it present an additional burden on your earnings and expenses? You need to first make yourself aware of these things and be prepared. It seems like you inadvertently hide these events from your conciousness, and then they present themselves as mini-crises, like costing you an additional $35 that you really don't have to spare.

I see this situation ending in you declaring bankruptcy on down the road. You are doing exactly what the secured card company wants you to do, and it will quickly get seriously out of control.

Also, I'm not trying to offend you. I'm just being honest with you, as I have gone through it myself. It was very difficult to recover and took several years to accomplish, to get a good credit rating back.

I quit my job 4-5 months ago so I could go camping and enjoy the summer. I drive a truck and afford to work about half a year. Everything cash. Might buy a nice cabin cruiser in a few days for $10,000 or so. Put another 5 into it and then go back to work in 2 months when the snow comes. Probly bring the boat to the dump to avoid worrying about where to leave it till next year

Stop buying items you DO NOT NEED, then you'll have funds available for items you DO NEED.

You create your own problems.

This is true. The OP could be growing a garden and selling the harvest. Or buy stuff at thrift stores and garage sales on the cheap, resell on eBay or something. Or buy stuff on Ali Express and resell at a flea market booth. But it's easier for some to bit*h and complain, be an eternal malcontent.

OP, wake up and make something of yourself. You can be successful if you want, but you have to put yourself first, not your petty little whims. Put yourself first, meaning, the God that dwells within you, put that first.

You must be very young with many years ahead of you to worry about saving for retirement. I quit a job with a big top 50 company after 15 years so I could go camping. But I wasn't poor. I had accumulated a lot of preferred stock that went up in value 5x over the years. I got about 3.5 years of wages when I quit and sold it all. 6 months later it had dropped about a 3rd in value, lol. I went camping for 3 years. I also inherited a shitload of money while I was camping. After those 3 years, I started my own business.

Sabaticals are rejuvenating. Lmao
