I wouldn't say that legislation is the issue... it is the direction of legislation that is the issue.. it favours the big corporates, that is what makes it difficult to bridge the gap between being poor with the gumption to make something of your life and being stuck in a poverty trap no matter what you have going for you (aside from buckets of cash) to change you lot

One of things I am hoping for out of Brexit is a focus on smaller businesses, this is where the normal everyday person has always made the leap from being poor to being self sufficient, and taking it further, this reliance on big business is dangerous, and akin to the age of the East India type companies with their own armys..

Strikingly a real liberal would tell you the 3 BIG rots that destroy a society and keep it in servitude and slavery are:

1) Big Government
2) Big Bureaucracy
3) Big Corporations.

Is it any wonder the term "liberal" has been hijacked..

There was are really interesting book at the end written at the beginning of the 20th century by a liberal predicting that instead of Capitalism and Socialism fighting to the death to see who would win that they would instead merge, with Capitalists taking control of business and Socialists taking control of Government.. and that combination would end in debt slavery/serfdom for the average person..

The book is by Liberal MP Hillair Belloc and titled "The Servile State" and Friedrich Hayek took Bellocs prediction a bit further in his book "The Road to Serfdom"

The problem with philosphies like these is that they dont account for human greed and thirst for power.

Agreed, and we can see that quite clearly in that exact example, the argument they put forward was maintaining Liberalism and individual freedoms as a counter, yet what we call Liberalism is the very beast those liberals proclaimed would enslave everyone in debt servitude to corporations and reliance on government..

We can see that so clearly with Hilarys Campaign having Occupy Wallstreet in the Same camp as Wall Street execs..

the problem is that most people in North America blindly fight for the rights of the business man instead of fighting for the rights of the working man.

Business men should be working men.
(or women. You know what I mean).

All the rich people I knew ended up having troubled, unaccomplished children due to neglect and not spending time with them

The brightest and most successful kids grew up in middle class homes

The poor I knew often had health issues. They also had the highest empathy and emotional sensitivity which dampered any cutthroat ambition you have to have to make it in this world. You have to be aggressive and step on toes to make it.

They found out thru studies that the rich had the most cases of sociopathy and psychopathy. You literally have to have a cold heart.

But hang in there, the Bible says "The Meek" will inherit the earth

Social or economic mobility is mostly impossible or an illusion. you have to win the lottery or become rich by sports etc. and it appears to be design.

You silly. You can teach yourself computer programming and write some damn good apps that you can actually sell. Or write code on contract. Be your own boss. Set your own hours. Determine how much you want to earn based upon how good you want to be. Cheer Stop biitch because someone won't set you up with a sweet deal or create that sweet job you've always wanted, lol. It's nobody else's responsibility to make sure you earn enough money. It's not even someone else's responsibility to make you a job.

You know, you might be your own worst obstacle in life with an attitude like yours. chuckle

Why is it a responsibility to make 'money'? Said who? There's no better system we can create, that allows yourself to teach computer programing and write good apps -- because it's a way to entertain, or even progress humanity and not worry about profit motivations?

You could have a much better life, with others as well, if you'd check your own attitude in the mirror. Cause, in all scopes, you're still 'poor' vs the 'rich', you're just less poor than others. Even if you call yourself or consider yourself upper-middle class.

Perhaps, just maybe, It's not my responsibility to keep your system of money and price tags and look at the whole scope of the problems presented by this attitude. ;) I'd like to see where I signed an agreement contract on that one.

I think the credit bureaus hate me. Specifically me.

When I first starting building my credit, I got a secured card. After a few years using that paying it off every month without fail, I got a real one from my company and closed the account on my secured one. I had to get in touch with them to make sure I got my security deposit back. They did send me a check in the mail, but then my credit score dropped like 60 points. Credit card companies apparently DO NOT like sending you money in the mail. The reason they told me my credit score dropped is because I have less available credit on my new card than on my old one.

I wanted to buy a home a few months ago and checked with 3 different banks for a mortgage - they all turned me down because of no "installment history" despite me having a good credit score and never missing a payment on my card.

So I take out a loan to build up my installment history and then my credit score drops like 50 points. You would think it would rise, because now I have a large amount of credit on my profile that I'm paying back each month? I mean if they can dock me 60 points for having less credit when I closed my secured card, how can they dock me 50 points for increasing it with a loan?

The only thing I can come up with, is that creditors see my name on a screen and are like "Hey! I know that guy! He pays his debt on time every month and we had to send him his deposit back. We hate that guy!"

This whole system is bullshit.

more like we are all slaves to the credit score companies

Really? You're that f*cking hopeless and worthless?

It's the system that says the poor are hopeless and worthless. "Useless eaters" and "a burden to society". Incarceration, homeless shelters and psychiatric centers bring in more federal and state funding than the poor could possibly pay in taxes.

Every single human is a slave to the needs and greeds of the body.

You have illusions of freedom, but ultimately, hunger is your master.

Blame it on the toxic atmophere and poisonous food, water and drug production, that people don't have a clue or care as to what will hapoen in our future. It is all about making it through each day or week. There is no longer any real trust that any financial/equitable savings might go towards children or grandchildren. The leeches are in every agency formed by the leeches who run the country. We are being bled dry and only when the upper class and wealthy(not the elite) start to be fed upon, will there be any type of justice being rallied for. Then..they will have no underlings to blame..
