The system is f**ked up.

Seems to be no way out if your poor. How do you go from nothing to the middle of the latter ?

Every turn you make is blocked and full of red tape.

Each of us has our own problems we are dealing with and no way to fight the system.

Living from paycheck to pay check trying to just get by.

No way to fix car problems, no way to get a better car, worried about job no health
care,

Personal Stress

It makes you just want to give up at times.

Crazy Lunatic Since 2014.... I post and you debate and think about it.

Social or economic mobility is mostly impossible or an illusion. you have to win the lottery or become rich by sports etc. and it appears to be design.

It's just starting to feel like a pressure cooker.

Maybe this is the start of a civilization that is on the verge of collapse.

the problem is that most people in North America blindly fight for the rights of the business man instead of fighting for the rights of the working man.

RE: I am really starting to think the system is f**ked. If your poor
I wouldn't say that legislation is the issue... it is the direction of legislation that is the issue.. it favours the big corporates, that is what makes it difficult to bridge the gap between being poor with the gumption to make something of your life and being stuck in a poverty trap no matter what you have going for you (aside from buckets of cash) to change you lot

One of things I am hoping for out of Brexit is a focus on smaller businesses, this is where the normal everyday person has always made the leap from being poor to being self sufficient, and taking it further, this reliance on big business is dangerous, and akin to the age of the East India type companies with their own armys..

Strikingly a real liberal would tell you the 3 BIG rots that destroy a society and keep it in servitude and slavery are:

1) Big Government
2) Big Bureaucracy
3) Big Corporations.

Is it any wonder the term "liberal" has been hijacked..

There was are really interesting book at the end written at the beginning of the 20th century by a liberal predicting that instead of Capitalism and Socialism fighting to the death to see who would win that they would instead merge, with Capitalists taking control of business and Socialists taking control of Government.. and that combination would end in debt slavery/serfdom for the average person..

The book is by Liberal MP Hillair Belloc and titled "The Servile State" and Friedrich Hayek took Bellocs prediction a bit further in his book "The Road to Serfdom"

RE: I am really starting to think the system is f**ked. If your poor
I think the credit bureaus hate me. Specifically me.

When I first starting building my credit, I got a secured card. After a few years using that paying it off every month without fail, I got a real one from my company and closed the account on my secured one. I had to get in touch with them to make sure I got my security deposit back. They did send me a check in the mail, but then my credit score dropped like 60 points. Credit card companies apparently DO NOT like sending you money in the mail. The reason they told me my credit score dropped is because I have less available credit on my new card than on my old one.

I wanted to buy a home a few months ago and checked with 3 different banks for a mortgage - they all turned me down because of no "installment history" despite me having a good credit score and never missing a payment on my card.

So I take out a loan to build up my installment history and then my credit score drops like 50 points. You would think it would rise, because now I have a large amount of credit on my profile that I'm paying back each month? I mean if they can dock me 60 points for having less credit when I closed my secured card, how can they dock me 50 points for increasing it with a loan?

The only thing I can come up with, is that creditors see my name on a screen and are like "Hey! I know that guy! He pays his debt on time every month and we had to send him his deposit back. We hate that guy!"

This whole system is bullshit.

You silly. You can teach yourself computer programming and write some damn good apps that you can actually sell. Or write code on contract. Be your own boss. Set your own hours. Determine how much you want to earn based upon how good you want to be. Cheer Stop biitch because someone won't set you up with a sweet deal or create that sweet job you've always wanted, lol. It's nobody else's responsibility to make sure you earn enough money. It's not even someone else's responsibility to make you a job.

You know, you might be your own worst obstacle in life with an attitude like yours. chuckle

You sound young and inexperienced. ONE credit card is not going to build your credit history. A loan is not going to enable you to buy a house. It takes time to build a credit history. It also takes a decent income. Just be patient.
