I guess it would help if I posted the methods.

Quote:Descriptions:

1) Lethal injection: Lethal injection is the most-preferred method to euthanize dogs and cats, since it causes the least stress for the animals and a somewhat minimal amount of stress for the humans involved. However, the amount of stress for the animal is in some ways dependent on the method or location of injection, the type of chemical(s) used, and the proficiency of the human involved. Most-typically, injection is done quite painlessly in a front leg; in the case of severe dehydration, other locations may be used. This writer once brought a cat to a veterinarian who injected directly into the heart, and is something to be avoided if possible.

2) Decompression chamber. A decompression chamber is a spinning mechanical unit which houses small cages into which animals are enclosed; the spinning of the unit prevents the animals from breathing, causing them to lose consciousness and eventually die. Today, this method is considered inhumane under the AVMA guidelines.

3) Gas Chamber. Various kinds of gas chambers are used; a typical professional type includes individual small cages for numbers of animals which are all gassed at the same time, although AVMA guidelines for certain gases require euthanasia individually.

4) Electrocution. This method for small animals such as dogs and cats sometimes involves a metal clip on the animal's lip and a metal rectal electrocution probe. This method was described to us several years ago by a well-known large humane shelter director, but we do not find it currently listed in the AVMA guidelines.

Again, to get more details on types of methods or any specific method, simply ask various impoundment directors, and you are sure to get a great deal of information on these and other methods used in your area as well as those that have fallen by the wayside and are no longer employed in your area.

Interesting little tidbit I recently learned, heard is this. Tia, the pit bull expert on the show "Pit bulls and Parolles", had said that about 95% of all vicious pit attacks, and sudden personality flips from pit bulls, or pit bull mixes happen from the Blue nosed variety of pit bull. It seems to be something in their genetics.
The 2 red nosed ones I am familiar with and interact with are big pu$$y cats who just wanna love and be petted, while the one blue nosed one I know, I do not trust at all. He's got that look in his eye and I don't like it. Also he wants to bite if someone wants to reach out and pet him, and would if the owner didn't have him secure on his leash. I am sure the owner has never treated her dog with anything but loving , kindness. I tend to believe now, that it is in the genetics of the blue nosed ones, that make them killers. Nature, not nurture.

OK when I was a kid our dog ran away.
and the police found it.
and took it to the pound.
and dad had to pay a $75 dollar fine to get the dog back.

So the city had a dog gas chamber.
I saw and remember this.

Anyways it was common to kill dogs at that time.

It was common for other animals to be killed too.
I remember someone killing a turkey at thanksgiving.

Anyways no ban for suggesting the dog be killed.

I had to read a bit about this. I can tell you a lot about northern breed/sled dog types, but not so much pits. But I thought this would support that theory:

Quote:Remember how I said that Blue Nose Pitbulls are rare because the recessive gene is uncommon? Well, this creates a dilemma for “backyard breeders” who want to cash in on blue lust. How can they sell more and more Blue Nose Pitbulls if there is such a limited gene pool to begin with? The unfortunate answer is that illegitimate breeders inhumanely inbreed their Blue Nose Pitbulls.

Sure, inbreeding generates money for the breeders in the short-term because initially it is hard to tell if a dog is inbred--especially if the dog is young. But inbreeding can create major long-term problems for the eventual owner because it leads to health problems such as immune disorders, cancer, grass allergy, heart disease, and cataracts.

Not only that, but because of their low melanin levels, Blue Nose Pitbulls are susceptible to immune and nervous system dysfunction, such as deafness, poor vision, skin spots, alopecia, and bad temperament.

In fact, because many breeders have a sole, driving focus of producing dogs with a blue coat and nose, they lose sight of the more important trait: a good temperament! Because of this, too many Blue Nose Pitbulls are born with aggressive or stubborn tendencies.

If you want a Blue Nose Pitbull as part of your family, be sure to get one from a reputable breeder!

Some of the people in this thread arent calling for 1 dog to be put down, they are calling for all dogs of 1 breed to be put down, which is not cool at all. If you dont see that as wrong maybe you are fu cked in the head?

guy had just been interviewed for bbc documentary
supposedly the cameras were off
hard to believe they didn't video it

hoist by his own petard, anyway
couldn't give a sh1t
would give him a vote for the darwin award, though

Yet it was the producer who was trying to get the dog off him...weird, no?

Yeah, a friend's pit recently went south 'mentally' and became unstable, snapped at someone who was roughly teasing the dog. The Dog is not on a ranch for dogs who are mistreated and the lady who runs is said that that particular breed of pit bull (blue nosed ones) have a tendency to go off mentally later in life.

So I can see a correlation there, but the whole 'all pit bulls are mean and bad and should be put down' is unethical and biased based on what is, relative to the size of the pit bull population, rather small but garners such media hysteria.
