As they dined at the White House Tuesday evening on breaded veal and pie, President Donald Trump, his top economic advisers and a small, bipartisan group of U.S. senators had a wide-ranging discussion with a focus on tax reform that left Pennsylvania’s Pat Toomey feeling hopeful.

Toomey told reporters after the two-hour gathering that it was a “constructive” evening in which the three Democratic legislators in attendance signaled openness to considering a “considerably” lower top tax rate on American businesses.

Toomey said Tuesday evening that there has been “a tremendous amount of work” done to flesh out of the details of a tax package, which he expects to be unveiled soon.

Tax talk over dinner with Trump was productive, U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey says

The Associated Press has the details:

"The White House says President Donald Trump's dinner with Republican and Democratic senators to talk taxes was "highly productive" and will "spur constructive discussion."

"Trump met Tuesday with Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota and Joe Donnelly of Indiana, as well as Republican Sens. John Thune of North Dakota, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania and Orrin Hatch, of Utah.

"In a statement Wednesday, the White House says Trump asked them to "help deliver tax cuts for American families."

"Manchin, Heitkamp and Donnelly are the only Democratic senators who did not sign a letter addressed to Republican leaders and Trump. The letter said the Democratic caucus would not support a tax overhaul that cuts taxes for the "top 1 percent" or adds to the government's $20 trillion debt."

no surprise there. the dems are as much a party of, for, and by big business as the repubs

and no matter how much you might like to tax corps more it doesn't make any sense because they can just move their business offshore and avoid the tax altogether.

2 questions:

how does a millionaires club get the authority to vote on their own tax rates?

how are we ever gonna balance the budget if taxes go down and spending always goes up?

The cartoonish Millionaire club needs to get out of politics. A balanced budget is a myth... a myth we are supposed to have faith in.
