The gladiatorial games served the purpose of diverting the citizens attention from the sorry condition of the Roman Empire.

I canceled my NFL Sunday Ticket this year and won't watch ESPN on a bet. I do like football, but I won't be preached to by a bunch of spoiled, overpaid lowbrows.

RE: It is way past time to stop attending sporting events.
think for a moment of the NFL, the financial Juggernaut it is/was..

as the appeal for their product fades into oblivion it's possible their fall can be laid at the feet of one solitary man and his protest...

good or bad, one man's notion of America and his animosity towards it has been the catalyst that has eaten away at the entire base of the sport's fandom. the protest that sank a thousand franchises. every last football star out of work in 5 yrs or less...

kids don't watch or play football. the boys all play with dolls now and hate getting bruised or dirty. who's going to watch the Neo-Facisti-Leftards in the future when every last VFW post, bar and home tunes them out for good?

maybe all the wasted money can now be spent on something useful.. (of course it won't, but I can dream)
