He says he is chased by red eyed anthropomorphic dogs, a man died of mould poisoning when no mould was found in his home, he travels through time, people in his town commit suicide en masse, he has seen spontaneously combusted deer, and compares his town to the town in Stephen King'sIT.
He seems pretty adamant on saying it is not fiction and replies to all of the comments people are sending him.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Thetruthishere/...t_anymore/ I can also find no news reports of any of the things he has reported. He says the stuff wouldn't be interesting enough to report in the news.

(Such as a 60 year old man dying of mould poisoning when no mould was there? Spontaneously combusting deer, mass suicides, time travel, and anthropomorphic dogs?)

I probably seem daft, but is this just trolling or does this person seem to have a genuine mental illness of some kind? I don't know why but these people get me really curious. I also notice they tend to make their stories overly detailed every single time, and the stories often involve mythical creatures. In this case, it's anthropomorphic dogs with glowing red eyes that he says chase him at night.

I'm not certain on his age but he says this stuff happened when he was 9 to 13 and I think he said somewhere he is 19 now. What's weirder is, all of his older posts seem normal and sane.
He also replied to one of my posts asking this question still insisting it's true but backed off when I began questioning him. You can see that thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/DebunkThis/comm...olling_or/

Schizofrenia usually shows it's ugly head around that age. Sometimes gradually, sometimes it's suddenly there.

My brother's schizofrenia gradually got worse.

A friend of mine went on vacation to Spain for a week perfectly normal. He came back as the dark prince.

Usually a good sign that someone is delusional is they back off or even get angry when questioned.

He is calling me ''ignorant'' and a ''troll' now because I don't believe his obviously fake story is real.

RE: Is this person trolling or does he have a mental illness?
This case reminds me of another person.

For example in the 1960's there was a 16 year old named Edward McCleary, who told the press the day later that his friends drowned at sea after the current pushed their dinghy too far out to shore. They forgot to put on their flippers, so 4 of his friends died but he survived. He mentioned the currents and him and his friends developing cramps.

A year later his story changed, he wrote an extremely overly detailed (horror-movie esque) story in FATE magazine about how a mythical sea dragon had picked off his friends one by one, (even going so far as to describe the dragon's eyes and his friend's cries and screams!) despite one of the bodies washing to shore with no injuries mentioned in the autopsy report, just drowning - so no attack by animal had occurred. In the monster story Edward says there was a huge storm and fog. No fog or storms were recorded that day. It was mentioned that he is now a reclusive, unstable person afraid of the ocean.

Aggressive response when not believing is also fairly common with delusions. For them it's really real.

You have to remember, to them it's not just thinking it is actually happening; IT IS HAPPENING to them, no matter how fantastical the story.

We know they are just thinking it, because of some misfiring in the brain. They do not, and, cannot recognize the difference a good part of the time. It's as real to them, as you typing on a keyboard.

My mother has a bi-polar disorder, and it came about when she was 50. She was mainly rational beforehand, but today.. it's hit or miss.

Imagine 'seeing' what they see and report. That's what their brain is telling them is real; and why they will say otherwise when challenged.

It's very difficult for them.. i wouldn't argue directly, but show more sympathy towards the person when dealing. Think kid gloves.
