This exemplifies Americas problems ....people who have no clue how our government even works are allowed to vote.
You should have to pass a citizenship exam to get a voter ID card.
You should also be a tax payer, with a net loss to the Government.
If your getting money from the government, more then your paying in you should not have a say. Obviously you are going to keep your gravy train running. Issues that the rest of us have to pay for be damned."

We had lots of laws about being part of the gub, too, but no one follows them anymore. They rewrote the constitution and failed to inform the citizens of the country.

so are you saying that the citizens of the USA don't understand what they vote for or how the votes are counted?

yes, its obvious by the title of this thread.
The NEA and their masters have succeeded in dumbing down the average American to the point they dont even know what it means to be an American.
newly naturalized immigrants have a much better grasp on What America means and how it works.

RE: Democrats got millions more votes – so how did Republicans win the Senate?
The Senate and House operate differently and are meant to be part of checks and balances.

House is more likely to be influenced by gerrymandering. It is based on population and organized by districts. Therefore, highly populated states have more reps. This can be messed with by manipulation. (Austin comes to mind).

The Senate is organized by state. Each state gets two votes. So currently there are more red rural states and less highly populated states. But it is important for each state to be able to bring their need a to the table. This can be negatively influenced by voter fraud - from disenfranchisement to 'faulty' machines.

We should all be pushing for fairness and clarity in the voting system.

The house and Senate should never be the same.

Shame.... but not to worry or feel alone, I know we had the same problem here recently with everyone claiming the PM was unelected, in the context they meant it (they did not vote for the PM) it's true, but then, no one has ever elected a PM that way... just shows either they have a deep lack of knowledge OR this is simply a game, picking a method of calculating stuff but a different method so the result is the way they want it to do... which is what I think it is, which is slightly more insidious than simply being clueless..

"...Among the most eye-catching was a statistic showing Democrats led Republicans by more than 12 million votes in Senate races, and yet still suffered losses on the night and failed to win a majority of seats in the chamber...."

The majority of Americans vote Democrats ....
Even so they lose, as in the election for president ...
Something must be wrong with your voting system ....

Gerrymandering and corruption, mostly.

Let me help you out here a bit. Senate area is determined by state lines there is no gerrymandering involved.

Kevin de León
Democrat

I said naturalized...which means legal immigrants. Most of them worked very hard to get here, studied our history and government and passed a history test that most high school seniors would fail today.......These immigrants typically work very hard and appreciate what they have more then the welfare class Americans. They do NOT automatically vote democrat. They use their brains to decide not their televisions. They vote for what is best for their families future....The way we all should but dont anymore

Gerrymandering and corruption, mostly.

Gerrymandering

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerrymandering

"Gerrymandering is a practice intended to establish a political advantage for a particular party or group by manipulating district boundaries. The resulting district is known as a gerrymander (/ˈdʒɛriˌmændər, ˈɡɛri-/); however, that word is also a verb for the process. The term gerrymandering has negative connotations. Two principal tactics are used in gerrymandering: "cracking" (i.e. diluting the voting power of the opposing party's supporters across many districts) and "packing" (concentrating the opposing party's voting power in one district to reduce their voting power in other districts). The third tactic, shown in the top-left diagram in the diagrams to the right, is that of homogenization of all districts..."

WHAAAT??
It sounds like a practice from HELL !!!

Scream1 doomed

It is.
What...you’ve never heard of gerrymandering before?

Gerrymandering is the ONLY reason the GOP survives and it’s unequivacobly corrupt.

Give me one good reason reason why the districts shouldn’t be determined along the pre-existing and never-changing county lines?

More Democrat lies.

Lets see.

24 Democrat seats up.
9 Republican seats up.

33 seats total.

46,225,674 Democrat Votes
33,647,475 Republican votes

Republicans should have won 0.4212614054 or about 42% of the seats.

33 * 0.4212614054 = 13.9016263776 or 14 (have to round to a whole person - fractional people aren't functional.)

The Republicans won 11 or 12 seats (depending on a runoff for one seat).

Proportional representation would demand they have 14 seats. The Republicans have been shortchanged and should demand(like whining Democrats) that they get 2 or 3 more seats - depending on the runoff result.

Maybe the ones who came here, got work, learned the language and the laws and then got naturilzed, but there are far more getting citizenship, who can't read or write the language, understand the laws, and are allowed to vote for government officials.
And i have voted for what i thought was in mine and my family's best interest..in both republican and democratis parties yet nothing has ever made life easier for my family. It doesn't matter what these peopke promise to do. Promises are meant to be broken for the gullible voters.
