Calm Down ... It's Not The End Of The World ... So It Ain't No Doom

Most Fringe Dooms have been breathlessly predicted ad nauseam, some for thousands of years, but they never come to pass. So in 2015, 2016, 2017, when there's still no Doom?what’s your prep for excuses? The Doom was cancelled? The Doom was delayed? Better Deluded than sorry?

For 16 years I've been seeing people fearmonger on the net and if anything I've become more amused at their constant claims of doom than made afraid.

Been on these sites for damn near 10 years. Not one thing has come to pass and i damn near heard every conspiracy.

Every prediction ive ever seen in my life about "DOOM" Events NEVER HAPPEN. The only doom is what goes on in these peoples minds.

Conservatives Have Larger Fear-Center In Brain

• For thousands of years, Fringers preoccupied with Impending Doom, who believe TEOTW(AWKI) is imminent due to prophecy/design, do so because they possess one or more of the following personality disorders:

? Certain of Impending Doom (delusional)
? Desirous of Impending Doom (sociopathic)
? Frightened of Impending Doom (paranoid/phobic)

• The greater the certainty/desire/fear of Doom, the worse the disorder. As with most things, it's all a matter of degree. By definition, the more vastly immoderate one is, the more extremist one is. And the vast majority of
Doomers are Religious Fanatics, Doomsday Preppers, or New Age believers expecting transformation/alien-intervention. They all imagine countless improbable and often absurd ways for the End of the World to be Nigh?
endlessly in the extreme. But it is quite illogical, irrational, (and often fairly crazy) to forever expect the highly improbable and the downright impossible.

• Doomsterbation is primarily the result of basing one's life on primitive belief systems that are ensconced not in reality (critical thinking) but in fantasy (magical thinking). The origins are mainly mythology and religion;
medieval irrationalities which are basically all the same?i.e., Woo Woo.

From day one, gullible Woos have always been real suckers for a cool story, usually in the desperate hope of bargaining with an imaginary deity for an imaginary afterlife. Combine all that with a well-ingrained persecution complex and the result is unreasoned, unevidenced, unlimited doomsterbation.

• Woos believe in fantasy (religion, prophecy, new age) more than reality (science, mathematics, engineering). Most lack even a basic understanding of the Earth sciences, astronomy, and probability & statistics. Since they are so ignorant of how the real world works, and cannot do reason or critical thinking.

Woos constantly misunderstand/overstate the meaning of current events. With irrational Doom bias, they misinterpret events as being "signs" and "escalations"
in order to rationalize that one of their favorite fairy tales is finally coming true.

All Doomsterbated without any credible empirical evidence; self-fulfilling BS.

• All prophets are false prophets?hucksters of tall tales?selling self serving lies of sin and redemption, boogeymen and saviors, doom and transformation.
Whether it's Jesus, Muhammad, Moses, Camping, Sitchin, Icke, Wilcock, Lieder, or AJ ... the crazy Con Men of the Lunatic Fringe peddle ¢ool $tories. Stories
bought by willfully ignorant magical thinkers who sacrifice fact for fiction, reality for fantasy, and reason for faith. And even after several millennia of End Time perma-FAILS, the poor Woo suckers never catch on.

• So it is no coincidence that an addiction to Woo resembles an addiction to drugs. Because just like addicts, Woos are basically escapists?far more fond of cool story fiction than cold hard fact. And just like children, they live in a make-believe world; a delusional fantasy of wishful pretending, supernatural magic, and primeval fairy tales. And magical thinkers will rationalize, and deny, and believe anything to preserve their favorite fantasies?especially when desperate for an imaginary afterlife. Opiate of the masses indeed.

Magic ...

"You cannot convince a believer of anything; for their belief is not based on evidence?it is based on a deep seated need to believe." ~Carl Sagan

"It is no coincidence that the party of fundamentalism is also the party of fantasy. When I say religion [woo woo] is a mental illness, this is what I mean?it corrodes your mental faculties. The brain that believes in angels and miracles and Jesus riding a dinosaur is trained
to see the world not as it is [reality] but as you want it to be [fantasy].
They're all magical thinkers, on nearly every issue." ~Bill Maher

• You know why so many primitive cultures echo the same Doomy prophecies?
• It's all reruns: War, Plague, Pestilence, Flood, Famine, Volcanoes, Tsunami, Collapse.
• End-Time Woos mistake accounts of such disasters as prophecy of TEOTW(AWKI).
• They also rationalize that such recurring disasters are "signs" and "escalations".
• But natural and man-made calamities have always happened?disaster is normal.
• So "prophecy" merely predicts reruns of normalcy, and that is hardly prophetic.
• As history shows, localized/limited disasters are scarcely The End Of The World.
• Yes, ELEs can happen?but they are extremely rare, highly improbable events.
• And it's crazy to forever expect the highly improbable and the downright impossible.

The (Interactive) Periodic Table of Irrational Nonsense

http://www.crispian.net/PTIR/Nonsense.html

There is no such thing as Doom. There have always been epic disasters, both natural and man-made, and there always will be. But there is no such thing as impending End-of-the-World DOOM. That is merely a primitive
mythology, and yet another delusion of the Fundie Woo mind ... just like God & the Devil, Angels & Demons, Heaven & Hell, Ashtars & Pleiadians, Annunaki & Reptoids ... all childish, fairy tale fantasies contrived mainly
as a result of the quixotic human quest for an imaginary afterlife.

Schizotypal personalities include:
• Feelings that external events have an unusual personal meaning
• Unusual thinking, beliefs, perceptions or behavior
• Excessive, persistent social anxiety
Feelings of impending DOOM
• Extreme emotional responses
• Suspicious/paranoid ideas
• Delusions of grandeur

The Psychosis of Rapture Belief

http://sciencebasedlife.wordpress.com/20...re-belief/

Models of religious fanaticism such as Jesus and Muhammad display the classic symptoms of religious schizophrenia (hearing voices, delusions of grandeur, hallucinations, paranoia, a belief in their supernatural power).

So religious fanatics model themselves on classic religious schizophrenics.

They are also under the delusion that their every thought and action is watched by someone who can send them to Hell for the slightest infraction.

Psychiatry considers this disorder symptomatic of paranoia, but for religious Woos, such paranoia is considered "normal" and is even encouraged.

Religious Psychosis, Schizophrenia and Paranoia

Unfortunately, once you are profoundly paranoid, its grip will spread to every corner of your life. This is clearly evidenced on the Internet where many forums are devoted entirely to paranoid delusions and their triggering by religious fanatics who are convinced not only that
the world is soon to end but that such an Apocalypse is being brought about intentionally by evil entities such as the Illuminati, New World Order, or even Alien Reptiles?shapeshifters from other planets, in human form?who have infiltrated the highest levels of government.

''The insane Death Cults, the miserable religious wretches of this world, the poor psychotic fools who can't kill themselves for fear of Hell, can't wait for the end of the world, so that their miserable lives will finally be over.'' ~Christopher Hitchens

2017 was the hottest year on record without an El Niño

2017 was the second-hottest year on record according to Nasa data, and was the hottest year without the short-term warming influence of an El Niño event.

In fact, 2017 was the hottest year without an El Niño by a wide margin – a whopping 0.17°C hotter than 2014, which previously held that record. Remarkably, 2017 was also hotter than 2015, which at the time was by far the hottest year on record thanks in part to a strong El Niño event that year.

America was battered by climate-fueled extreme weather events in 2017.

Research has already shown that global warming boosted Hurricane Harvey’s record rainfall (and associated flooding) by about 38%. California’s record wildfire season was similarly fueled by the state’s hot summer. The southwestern states were cooked by record hot summer temperatures this year, and global warming is making droughts in America and Europe worse. America was hit by 15 billion-dollar weather and climate disasters in 2017, and it will likely be the costliest such year on record once all of the hurricane damages are tallied.

RE: Only *52* Weeks Remain to Prep for Your 2018 DoomDud Excuses
Some of the wealthiest people in America—in Silicon Valley, New York, and beyond—are getting ready for the crackup of civilization

Survivalism, the practice of preparing for a crackup of civilization, tends to evoke a certain picture: the woodsman in the tinfoil hat, the hysteric with the hoard of beans, the religious doomsayer. But in recent years survivalism has expanded to more affluent quarters, taking root in Silicon Valley and New York City, among technology executives, hedge-fund managers, and others in their economic cohort.

Last spring, as the Presidential campaign exposed increasingly toxic divisions in America, Antonio García Martínez, a forty-year-old former Facebook product manager living in San Francisco, bought five wooded acres on an island in the Pacific Northwest and brought in generators, solar panels, and thousands of rounds of ammunition. “When society loses a healthy founding myth, it descends into chaos,” he told me. The author of “Chaos Monkeys,” an acerbic Silicon Valley memoir, García Martínez wanted a refuge that would be far from cities but not entirely isolated. “All these dudes think that one guy alone could somehow withstand the roving mob,” he said. “No, you’re going to need to form a local militia. You just need so many things to actually ride out the apocalypse.” Once he started telling peers in the Bay Area about his “little island project,” they came “out of the woodwork” to describe their own preparations, he said. “I think people who are particularly attuned to the levers by which society actually works understand that we are skating on really thin cultural ice right now.”

In private Facebook groups, wealthy survivalists swap tips on gas masks, bunkers, and locations safe from the effects of climate change. One member, the head of an investment firm, told me, “I keep a helicopter gassed up all the time, and I have an underground bunker with an air-filtration system.” He said that his preparations probably put him at the “extreme” end among his peers. But he added, “A lot of my friends do the guns and the motorcycles and the gold coins. That’s not too rare anymore.”

U.S. rivers getting saltier, drinking water at risk -study

U.S. rivers and streams have become saltier and more alkaline over the last 50 years, posing risks to drinking water by damaging pipelines and other infrastructure, according to a study released on Monday.

As municipal workers dump salt on roads to combat ice and farmers put fertilizer on fields, the runoff has made U.S. waterways saltier and more alkaline, according to the study, which examined decades of data recorded from 232 U.S. Geological Survey monitoring sites.

Salt can also be released by floods that reach sewage systems and spill the contamination into waterways, as well as from brines at hydraulic fracturing - or fracking - operations and oil and gas sites.

The salinity makes water more alkaline, or higher pH, by breaking down concrete, rocks in rivers and minerals in soil and water. The release of the contaminants can cause pipelines to corrode and leach lead into drinking water, while zinc and copper can be leached from rocks and soil in streams.

Alaskan graves sink as thawing permafrost is replaced by swamp

Most Alaska Native villages in the western part of the state are built on permafrost — a thick layer of frozen soil. But as the climate changes, that permafrost is starting to thaw. Kong's cemetery is melting and becoming a swampy lake. People are watching the graves of their loved ones sink out of sight.

Sea levels off Dutch coast highest ever recorded in 2017

Storm surges and tidal cycles caused record sea levels along the coast of the Netherlands last year, a Dutch marine institute has found.

"The level has been rising gradually since 1890 by about 0.2 cm per year due to the melting of the ice and the warming up of the ocean," expert Fedor Baart, of the research organisation Deltares, said in a statement Friday.

"That means that, as a rule, you expect the sea level to be higher every year."

Sea and water levels are carefully watched in the Netherlands, as much of the country lies below sea-level and is protected from flooding by a series of defences such as dykes, sand dunes, windmills to pump away water and sophisticated barrages.

In 2017, the institute measured the average sea levels along the Dutch coast to be 11 centimetres (over four inches) higher than normal water levels in Amsterdam, a gauge known as the NAP.

Without rain, S.Africa's Cape Town may run out of water by April

South Africa's Cape Town, one of the world's iconic tourist destinations, could run out of water by April as the city's worst drought in a century risks forcing residents to join queues for emergency rations.

"Day Zero" - the date taps are due to run dry - has crept forward to April 22 as city authorities race to build desalination plants and drill underground boreholes.

At a trial water collection site, similar to an estimated 200 the city may introduce, people queue between metal fences waiting to fill up containers from standpipes.

A maximum 25 litres of water will be provided per person, per day, officials said.

Weapons of mass destruction and climate change top list of global worries

The World Economic Forum's (WEF) flagship annual report surveyed almost 1,000 experts to identify the most significant global concerns facing humanity, finding that environmental concerns and fear of weapons of mass destruction came out on top.

The popular Global Risks Perception Survey found that risks appeared to be heightening, not dissipating, and that concerns over events with significant negative impact on multiple countries were elevated.

In all, 59 per cent of the nearly 1,000 respondents viewed the trajectory of risks in 2018 as rising, compared to just 7 per cent who perceived declining risks.

One of the main factors was held to be a deteriorating geopolitical landscape. The survey showed that 93per cent of respondents anticipate that frictions over politics or economics are expected to worsen among the major powers. Almost as high was the figure on the prospect of war between the world’s major powers, with nearly 80per cent expecting an increase in risks associated with conflict.

Doomsday Clock advances 30 seconds closer to symbolic "apocalyptic" midnight, reflecting uneasy state of geopolitical affairs.

It is now two minutes to midnight.

For some time I have feared that threat of nuclear disaster has grown beyond the risk we faced during the darkest years of the Cold War. The events of the past year have only increased my concern that the danger of a nuclear catastrophe is increasingly real.

I am saddened but not surprised by Bulletin’s decision to move forward the Doomsday Clock to 2 minutes to midnight, the closest it has ever been to global midnight. Deteriorating relations between nuclear armed states, false alarms, careless rhetoric combined with provocative actions, and the beginnings of a new nuclear arms race have all contributed to the precarious position the world finds itself in today. We are failing to learn from the lessons of history as we find ourselves blundering headfirst towards a second cold war.

The last and only other time the Doomsday Clock was this perilously close to midnight was in 1953, the year that the United States and the Soviet Union developed the first thermonuclear bombs. A quote from the Bulletin report of that year rings as true today as it did back then, “Only with the general recognition of the desperate seriousness of this situation, and of its threat to the survival of our own and other nations of the Western world, can the necessary remedial policies be put into operation.”
