A high-speed Amtrak train bound for Penn Station broke apart as it was cruising through Maryland on Tuesday, sources told The Post.

The 2150 Acela was traveling from Washington D.C. to the Big Apple when the incident happened at about 11:20 a.m. The train was traveling at about 125 mph, according to the source.

“Someone could have been walking through the train when that happened and fell to their death,” said the source.

I remember taking a train trip to Mexico on spring break years ago and we watched as the car behind us decoupled as we were traveling down the tracks.

Looks like America is headed to becoming Mexico.

I took a long vacation in a motor home on the coast of California back in '92. I walked along the Amtrak rails along the coast for a long distance. They were in terrible shape, didn't look like any maintenance had been done for years. The spikes were halfway out of the rails routinely. I swore never to ride Amtrak after that.

Make that 4 fatal crashes involving amtrak in two months, and now this- wth?
Perhaps they should rename it to Offtrak.

No, it was real. There was no door either. We were taking pictures at the cars receding into the distance and the federales came running up from another car and made everyone stop.

No evidence allowed.

This was back in the early 1980s.

The Acela is one of the fastest trains in the US. That is scary.
